Looks like you made biggest improvement so far if you went to the 4:10 gears and got rid of the 3:08 gears. Makes a whole different truck out of one. What exactly do you use your truck for? Daily driver, pull trailer, wheeling, or general purpose?

If you were closer I have a set of headers I just took off a 78 k20 I just cut up. I Never run headers on anything. There not worth the hassle unless you have a high performance engine. Flanges always leak, collectors leak, and spark plug wires are attracted to them to get burnt into. Offloading the truck makes all this worse. Just some advice from someone that's had alot of trucks I've drove with headers on them when I got them.

100% agree.
For any gains you may notice with headers, is not worth the hassle of gasket issues. Somenwill chimemin here and say " I have ran X brand headers for 250 years, and never had any of those issues"
But I have never seen any need formthem on a Truck that is used as designed...unless you floor it getting on the highway, you normally operate in the 1200-3500 RPM range, depending on gear ratio, and transmission.

If you want somemgood bang for your buck/time, I suggest gasket matched exhaust manifolds and exhaust ports..only using the gaskets as templates...I dont suggest the use of exhaust gaskets at all on the engine.

Even Vortec heads really wake up with the above process.

O i know im not worried about wat i have for hp like i said i was rly bored and just was just wondering wat i actualy have for hp. Im sure thos 4.10's were big but i have no clue wat speed im going as far as a 0-60 or wat ever and also i guess i havn't put it to the boards since i got it done cus of my ignition problem. But i don't have a tach and when i think im doing 70 comparied to other cars its fuggin screamin, and my speedo says 95mph-100mph, ill grab my gps next time i take it out. If i get it running good and strong and trust worthy its most deff going to be drove almost everyday prolli not to town to work but on the farm and id like to do some heavy lifting with it, i got a beast of a reciver hitch i need to put in it.

I've heard tell of engine builders porting out intake, heads, and stock exhaust manifolds and gaining a 100 hp on dyno with stock engine. Little tricks like that is time consuming, but free hp. I know my dad just built a 1000 hp 526 and spent days on porting and polishing internals to get it to that power.

Note tho he has over $9k in other parts in it to to get that.

recommended tow rpm for a 350 is 1800 to 2500.

You just want to be careful not to go so big with the porting, on either intake or exhaust sides. For a truck, I usually recommend no more than just gasket matching...The flow carachteristics of stockish size ports lend themselves well to Truck duty. Now, in a Camaro or something that will buzz passed 5k rpm?.....OPEN SEASON!

I didn't know that 2774 rpm's was bad. I ran my '65 with 3.54 gears, a stock 350 at 70 mph/2600 rpm's and higher for years and years. The engine I speak of came from a 76 K10 and we rebuilt it with all stock components in 1985. It went in my '56 in 1986 and I ran the piss out of it in that car, and then put it in the truck in 1991, and in 1997 after running the engine daily and hard that entire time on the highways/freeways/surface streets, I pulled the heads to have my stepdad freshen up the heads, and there wasn't a ridge in any of the cylinders. It didn't burn oil or anything. That was a damn good engine.

Edit: And by all stock components, I mean we reused the entire innards of the engine. The only thing I changed was the cam in 1988.
