What book do they use?? Kelley BB or NADA? I never would have thought it would be worth that much!! The local DMV valued mine at $62 I think or something like that, which assessed value here is only 60% of fair market value. I think fair market value is something they figure for vehicles that old that's not really on the books anymore. You can put a higher value on it here in WV but you'll pay higher taxes. Then on your insurance you can have them look at it and put a higher coverage on it, which is what I did.

I hate to say it but you live in the state of Taxachussets. I looked up mine on NADA and its at 5-9K.

They're high in more ways than one. Says my Suburban is worth $8400, original msrp was only $16900. Pretty sure it's lost more than 50% value.

It's one thing to say your truck is worth x amount, quite another finding someone willing to pay that amount.

Your right, it probably lost 75% or more. But it's started going back up in value in recent years. At least around here, people HAVE actually been paying more and more for the popular 70's-80's Chevrolet cars and trucks.

*edit* It deducted 10% off the value of an '88 Celebrity, because it had the optional V6?! WTF?
