I'm considering new wheels for my 1980 C10 stepside. I'd like to keep the option of 13" brakes open. Is it safe to buy 17" wheels? McGaughey won't claim to fit but CPP says their's will fit most 17" wheels.

What experiences can anyone share? What about other options? 18" wheels just don't suit my taste.

It depends on what wheels you go with. This is a 13" brake mated to an Eagle 16" x 8" wheel with -5.00 mm offset (4.250" backspace). You can see that there would be an issue if the rim was wider and had a positive offset, such as trying to tuck big rims all the way into the wheel wells, but for something in the range of what I consider a standard size rim even 16"s will work.

Thanks. A picture is worth a thousand words. I should have been more specific. I'm worried about 13" disk brakes.
