Axle tube seals replacement question

According to what I have read, I need a special tool to replace the axle tube seals in my 10 bolt front axle.
Has anybody replaced those seals, and is it REALLY necessary to buy a tool that I will never use again ?

If you are careful you can install the seals without special tools. However, the front differential needs disassembled to access the seals as they are not on the tube ends like a rear axle.
