I was told mounting the speakers in the doors will yield higher sound quality than the dash in case anyone was wondering...

That ought'a work. It would sound better if you move the tweeters, of the component speakers, up higher in the door. The closer to ear level the better. Or at least mount them angled up towards ear level. The 6 3/4" are fine down low.

Are your door power window or manual doors?

Cool. Then you should no issues. I put component sets in my doors but they were powere window/lock doors and had to build them out so that the speakers wouldn’t interfere with the regulator and motor :)

I would do that with either type doors, no hacking the doors and it looks good.. :waytogo:

Good deals and head unit seems to have all the bells and whistles. Personally, I like the separate speakers as opposed to the 'combo' type for the clairity too. I've seen some nice 'build-outs' for door speakers but using the speakers IN the door you get to use the door as a chamber for lower lows. It's a personal choice. I prefer to not cut holes in the door tho.
50 watts per channel should give you plenty of UMPH if you're not a loud listener. THD on the amps is MOST important.

My 79 had 3-way 6x9's in the doors and cab corners. I also added some 1" tweeters angled towards the back cab corners in the center speaker location. This was all run by a high power deck. I thought it could have used just a bit more base. I'm going to do something similar with the '85, but just 6" speakers in the doors. I'm looking at this powered sub from Retro Sound to put under the seat.
