I’m just wondering if anyone has any experience with ordering from acme tools? I was just wasting some time when I found out about a sale they were having. Buy a set of SAE Wiha 3/8’s impact sockets, and get the Metric set for free. I had seen the sets at Lowe’s, and they are $20 each. The sale, with shipping and taxes, came to $22.95 total so I ordered them on impulse. This was on April 3rd. I got an email saying they had received my order and order number.

On April 20th, I still had not received any updates. The SAE set was showing as processing, and the metric set was still only showing as received. I figured they were gonna ship separately, but by this time the excitement had worn off and I had been looking at reviews that stated acme was bad about saying stuff was in stock when it wasn’t, cancelled orders, etc. So on the 20th, I emailed them saying that I’d like to cancel my order. In less than 2 hours I received the email confirmation that my order was cancelled. Money was refunded to my account, and I went on my merry way. Yesterday, I got a text from fedex saying that my acme tools order was out for delivery. Well when I got home, the SAE set was on my doorstep. I went back and looked at my email, and they had canceled the metric set on the 20th, and canceled the SAE set on the 23rd. But it also showed shipped on the 23rd. I have a full refund in my account, and a brand new set of, apparently free, sockets.

Anyone else have a similar story? Thanks to my OCD, I’ll have to go get the metric set from Lowe’s. But at least I’ll still be in for the same sale purchase price of about $22. Part of me wants to see if the metric set eventually shows up.

I haven’t opened them yet, I’ll give them until the weekend to request that I send it back. After that they’re getting added to my collection.

I have never had any further correspondence from them, even though I kept the email saying that my order had been cancelled, and then shipped anyway. I ended up going to Lowe’s and buying the metric set, so I still got both sets for about $22 total. I just have no explanation for how it worked out this way lol.
