Another door cylinder lock question

I posted this in electrical but it probably belongs here:
On this 89 v1500, the rear driver and passenger electric door locks and rear barn door electric lock was weak, sometimes locking, and mostly not. I replaced the barn door lock cylinder to no avail. That may need more 12v troubleshooting because it does nothing. But the driver rear, it would successfully lock and unlock most times. I replaced that cylinder and it never electrically locked again. Replaced that new cylinder w another new cylinder w same disappointing result. The plunger works well when not attached to linkage. Linkage isnt binding. Why so weak?

Likely, any old grease in the latch mechanism has it fouled up. I'd remove it, soak it in some gasoline then spray a little white lithium on the moving joints. Couldn't hurt unless you're smoking around the gas.

Cigarettes don't burn hot enough to light gas so technically you could smoke as long as you don't strike a match or use a lighter.

And remember it's the gas vapors that ignite, not the liquid.

Don't know about gasoline buy I've seen Lacquer thinner set off by a cigerette.

I totally derailed this thread already so I'll keep it going. My grandfather in the 50-60's worked for a gas company in Texas. My dad said he would climb inside the tanks still with gas/ oil to weld and do repairs while smoking. Never had an issue but died in his early 60's from heart disease. Steak and eggs cooked in lard for breakfast and cigarettes. He was well known for being strict and using an extra long belt for spanking. As the oldest male grandchild, I was the last person to be spanked by him before he died. I was 5 or 6 when he passed.
