Ive heard of people taking the blowers off of the GMT400 (88-98) trucks and installing them into the 73-87 model trucks.

The reason for them doing so is because they move more air than their older counterparts.

Now I have an 1987 Chevy R10 pickup with Heat only.
The blower motor I have came out of a 91 Chevy C1500 W/T that had Heat and Air.

The cage on the 91 blower is longer than the one on my R10 blower.

Would I be able to use this blower?
Or Do I need to find a different one?
Because the blower I have currently sucks donkey poo.

You can put your cage on it.

I'm not sure I'm a believe in the newer blower motors moving more air. I think it's a case of "I replaced a crappy old blower motor with a brand new one, and omg, it moves more air!".

It's not because it's a better motor, it's because it's new.

In my humble opinion, anyway.

Certainly doesn't hurt to use the motor from a GMT400, since they are compatible, but I wouldn't specifically seek one out, myself.

It was just one I had lying around from that 91. That truck was scrapped because it was involved in a wreck and it bent the frame.

Good deal, free is always good. It's really easy to swap the cage, just one nut on the end and it's off and you just plop yours back on.

The one on the 91 doesn't appear to have a nut....
