My 81 10 bolt is about to puke. I know the spiders are looser than a $2 hooker, and I just discovered my pinion bearing is sloppier than that.
I have access to a free 10 bolt out of a 1990 GMC 1500 SLX.
My question is, will the spring perches or anything else need modification to fit, or is it plug n pray it works?

The spring perches and shock mounts are different, you'll have to mod it.

Swap the carrier and gear set from the 90 rear and get a set of 12 bolt truck axles and be done. You will need special carrier bearings but they are available.
