Hey guys,

I completely new to the square body. I have an 87 V20 that is going to be my project truck. I am looking at picking up an 85 C30 for the motor and front clip. The C30 has a manual trans in it. My V20 has an automatic. Can anyone offer some insight into what issues I may run into on doing this swap. I would like to keep the automatic transmission in the truck. Is it a direct bolt up to the new motor or do I need to make modifications to get it to link up. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Direct swap. Are you keeping the fuel injection?

Isn't that fun? Any idea if ill need to get a different torque converter along with the flywheel? Any other parts that I may need to get as well? Sorry to be a pain guys. Trying to get my ducks in a row before I pull the trigger on this C30 I have the opportunity to pick up. The C30 is a manual trans. My V20 has an automatic. Neither vehicle is TBI. Both are running a Carb. Any input on the situation is greatly appreciated. Thinking of just doing a straight cab swap. I know I will have some differences with manual and 4x4 shifter locations. Is the tranny tunnel the same size on both trucks? Alright now in rambling! Thanks for the input.

If you're getting a good deal, you can't go wrong with a 454/SM465 C30 no matter what you plan to do with it.

To run the auto, you will need the 454 flexplate, like Jim stated. If you want to swap cabs, it shouldn't be a big deal because the 2wd floor shifts have a high trans hump like the 4x4's.

Thinking about ordering the flywheel tonight or tomorrow. Do I need a different flywheel cover as autozone calls it? Since I am going from manual to automatic.
