My daughter had a major incident yesterday. The rear Ujoint at the differential failed and the driveline came off. It's destroyed. The transmission mount broke. There's a hole in the transfer case and the output shaft housing area of the 700R4 broke off. Not the 4WD adapter, but the actual transmission housing in front of that. I don't even know where to start. I have never had a transmission or transfer case housing fail before. Both housings are ruined so they're worthless as cores. I'm pretty sure the transfer case is totally done and I need to find another one. What about the transmission? Can the internals be put into a new housing? Has anyone else had a situation like this?

Something similar happened on my son's K10. His was ran without fluid & the case locked up, spitting out the rear shaft & breaking the rear housing of the trans & destroying the case.
You can swap the internals from the case BUT I'd be very scrutinous with inspection for component re-use. You'd probably be better off to find replacements for the druveshaft, case & trans.

Pic of where the transmission is broken please. As for swapping transmission internals yep.Its a fairly easy process, buy another good case clean it good. Get a manual and disassemble, reassemble in the new case. You won't have to mess with any clutch packs so should be pretty easy. The bad is you need to make sure no internals were damaged, and you still have to do 1/2 the work of a rebuild, so unless your transmission is fairly fresh a rebuild may be a better option. When you buy your replacement case,a whole core transmission maybe similiar or even less in price, you can get expierience tearing it down first ,be sure to get the same version 700r4, not all the same. I can't even guess which one you have. IDK what year your truck is.
