Yup the bench seats in my 87 Suburban (all 3 rows) are close to perfect…..except there are no head restraints. I don’t care about row 3 but I want head restraints in front and row 2.
Donor seats from what later model would be the easiest swap ? I want to stick with bench seats, and I don’t do the work myself but I have a guy…..but he likes to get paid. I just want to make it as simple for him as I can.
I would guess that the head restraints in row 2 are removable so seats can fold down ? I don’t care if I have to have seats reupholstered to match the red color as long as they have proper head rests.
Chat GPT is telling me 1989-1991 will work well for the front, but also tells me 1995-1999 GMT 400 seats will work in both front and rear.
I think the folks in this forum probably have more AI on this subject than Chat GPT. THANKS for your help, I appreciate it.

I think the gmt 400 seats from the 92-99 Burbs are different in mounting and general configuration. I've had the ones in my OBS Burb down a few times, as with the ones in my family's 3 square body Burbs we drove and loaded/unloaded...and I believe they're different enough to not be interchangeable. 1989-91 square body Burb has high back buckets or a bench with headrests; I don't recall exactly but I think the 90 Burb had headrests on the outer two positions on the second row. On the 400 seats, you have to remove the headrests before folding the seat down; there are grommets on the seat bases that they're stored in. Pretty sure the floorpans are different between the two body platforms as well....
