Ok so is the only change to the cylinder heads starting in 87 the angle of two center holes? Would older heads bolt on to 87 block if you change the intake? Just curious, thanks

So Im thinking about putting new heads on this truck, its an 87 with a 305 , would any head for sbc work, as in aftermarket aluminum heads? would there be a worry about valve size being too big? It will not get driven much so not looking to spend a fortune on heads just something decent, any suggestions? Thanks

The 87 heads are nothing special. Stock replacements are cheap. Getting your heads done at local machine shop to stock specs, cheap. If not looking for power, the machining your heads is the way to go. I had mine done with new valve guides for around 250.00 IIRC.
