Since you said shift pattern I assume its a manual transmission, since 95% have the SM-465 I would say its....
Left up is compound low- non synchronized gear for low speed torque, not to start out in.
Left down is first gear- What you start out in.
Right up is Second
Right down is third
All the way to the right and down is reverse.

*transfer case shifting* If I remember is:
all the way forward is 2 wheel
One clunk back is 4 wheel high
Next is neutral
all the way back is 4 low.
