85-86 ZY6 paint stripes measurements

Hi everyone! Hope everyone is doing well this howl-o-ween. I have moved on to painting my 1986 c10 that originally came with the ZY6 paint option. I have included a photo of how it is supposed to look. Does anyone know where I might be able to find the measurements and also possibly purchase that red decal that goes around? Any info would be super helpful.

I can't help with the measurements, but I do have a question. I thought that stripe package was only available in '85?

@bucket you are absolutely correct. I don’t know why I always say 86
I think it’s a force of habit since my paw has always had an 86. From what I’ve heard it’s not a common paint scheme so I have a feeling that it’s going to be a bit hard to find additional specs. But there’s a little hope. There’s a 85 C10 for sale about 45 min from me and I asked the seller about allowing me to measure the stripes and check locations and he said he would see when he had time. Fingers crossed that he contacts me. If he does I’ll make sure I post all the measurements here.

Just make it look like the picture. Nobody is ever going to check it. It looks like the body line on the bottom, the top of the bed on the back and just above the door handle on the door and just follow it through to the front. I wouldn't let that hold up progress.

At the last race I had a guy ask if my Chevelle is a '73 or '74, and I said '73.

I have no idea why I said that! I've been telling people it's a '74 (which it is) for 45 years.

My mind must have been somewhere else.

Also I was having a conversation with another C10 enthusiast at a gas station this past Monday night and he told me that there’s a 1985 insurance claim book or something like that, which has all the measurements, paint codes and other info. to the various paint schemes. Have any of you heard about such a thing?

If...and that's a huge IF...I ever decided to change up my paint scheme, this is what I'd do. Keep the same 2 blues but do the ZY6 instead of my ZY5

We have the factory red over white version. HBCPITA (wife) wanted it gold bassboat flaked dark cherry candy over white pearl. Now wants silver bassboat flaked dark candy purple over pearl white. Local sign shop is making replacement decals for me, NOT inexpensive, out of vehicle wrap vinyl.

Yes, HBCPITA does in fact mean “heap big chief pain in the a$$”… Equally applicable to wives/daughters/nieces…

well...consider it an investment in NOT having anyone turn your testicles into ear-rings, or turning them into Truck Nuts.

on commercial vehicles I remember one that the owner had put a whole wrap on for the business,...cheaper than a whole paint for something they got used covered in scratches. (it was a Smart Fortwo,...= suburban pickup, delivery, tech fix . =needed to be real small to park anywhere for 15 minutes, but wanting advertising anywhere it was).

you can advertise what a good husband you are,...happy wife / happy life.

I've mentioned before: the amazing thing to me is that this paint scheme was cooked up by a couple technicians (mechanics) at the Milford Proving Ground and and approved to be put into production.

Normally that kind of thing comes from the GM Design Center Studio at the Tech Center in Warren, and anything that doesn't gets shot down immediately.
