Hi All,

I'm in the process of trying to find a donor truck to frame swap my '89 suburban classic body onto. I found a '83 Scottsdale roller that claims to have a frame and core support in good condition. Does anyone know definitively if these frames would be interchangeable?

Thanks in advance!

They are not interchangeable directly. I'm sure with enough work you could make it happen but not a simple swap.

A crew cab frame is a much better fit for a Sub.

Truck frames have a different wheelbase and the rear frame rails are contoured differently than Suburban.

I'd fix that wrecked frame LONG before doing a frame swap. Not a doubt in my mind.

Nope.
And your in Cheeseland so not many rust free anything’s around, much less 35-50 year old vehicles.
Goal is the best balance of cost and effort, right?
Out here, rust free squarebody burbs, especially 2wd routinely get chopped up for scrap after parting out the stuff that can be used in burb builds and pickups.
You could get a straight roller burb for about next to nothing out here.
I’d consider the cost of finding one, driving out here (not necessarily all the way to WA) and towing it back.
Plenty of ways to minimize towing cost. From old tow bar bolted to bumper, U-Haul dolly or trailer, or buy trailer here and sell at home.
Just some suggestions.
If I was back in the Midwest that’s what I’d be strongly considering.
