I got the old base out. Man she's corroded to hell in there, as it came out a bunch on old rust followed.
I then tried with the passenger side bulb, which i know works, in driver side socket, but no joy. So I think the corrosion is blocking a good connection. I've got some brake clean, I might see if I can bring it back. But I think it might be looking like a new socket.

Nah i get what he's saying, ive dealt with the turn to pop out bulbs before. Pic shows its pretty corroded in there. If that's the case, I'll jist buy some bran new 1157 and replace em both.

Side question here but still related. Since these are turn signals, doesn't the lens or bulb have to be orange? Like most modern cars signal range, the side markers on fenders of these trucks are orange.
Bjt both lenses are clear and so were both bulbs.
Or is that just a detail that doesn't really make a difference?
If it's got clear lenses it's supposed to use 1157NA. NA stands for Natural Amber. It's just an orange tinted bulb.

Ok cool, I've got some white light bulbs and some amber ones. Just gotta put the new plug in. Should look sweet. Got some leds headlights (subtle, theyre not blinding). New side marker lights LEDs, tailights are still bright as fudge.

Alright, thanks again folks, all very appreciated

New side marker lights LEDs
LED bulbs do not always work well as side light markers in old GM vehicles. This is because of how the side markers are wired.

I've got some brake clean
Some brands of brake cleaner will affect the plastic. Brake clean is for brakes. Use plastic safe contact cleaner on light bulb sockets.

I should clarify, I got a new housing assembly for the side marker on fenders. Remove old housing the LED one comes with an adapter that fits right in where the old bulb goes in the socket. Screw assembly in and done.

I didnt even bother trying to clean the old socket, that rust I mentioned coming out when I pulled the rest of the bulb base out, well that was the metal tab that base used to connect to.
No biggie, new ones already bought and spliced it and working.
I want clearer lights just coz numerous occasions now I think other drivers are confused as to what direction I'm going, but all my lights work and I use my turn signals. So I just wanna be visible... in a 20 foot long 6 foot tall rattle snake beige truck... hahahaha

Was this marker specifically for a squarebody? They have a very, very unusual wiring sequence for the marker lights, they reverse polarity depending on the function they are providing at the time( most LEDs are not bidirectional) and they provide a path to ground for I forget if it's turn signal or driving light, but only sometimes. As in it works one way if just the markers on,another way if just the turn signal is being used, and then different if the driving lights and turn signal are being used at the same time. It is very confusing.

My bad i should've specified these are made for 81 to 91 squarebodies according to amazon

Bestview LED Side Marker Lights Compatible with 1981-1991 Chevy C10 C20 C30 GMC C1500 C2500 Suburban Blazer Jimmy, Driver & Passenger Side, Smoked Lens https://a.co/d/dSnUvBo

There's a link here, I copied it but looks kinda weird. But if it doesnt work google 81 to 91 led side marker lights.
There's clear lens, smoked lens, and white light.
I opted for smoke lens.

As far as what your saying using turn signal at same time as running lights. These are great. Literally, unscrew old lens, pop bulb out the LED is already hooked in the new lens, slide the adapter into truck wire harness and re installed.

But back to the issues you're mentioning, I just did a walk around of all my lights, (had to replace license plate bulb assembly, and go creative with my ground.) So, I did a walk around, lights on. Left turn signal, right turn signal, 4 ways, everything is working as it should.

Here's pics on on n off for my marker lights

Then when turn signal applied they just blink. Non of that ugly sequential flickering.
