I've got about 10 project cars..lol
All big inch motors,455 Buicks and Pontiacs.
Sucks to have to burn up $50-$75 in fuel in a few hours.
Chevy motors can be rebuilt at a reasonasbke cost, but Buick and Pontiac motors require large pockets.
I like to drive my cars, just figured the 454 in an A body would be fun.
Crate 350 would make the truck a daily cruiser.

Truck is 45 years old..lol
Pretty hard to find a truck this old complete and unmolested.
Maybe I'll just keep it as it is and drive it!

I don't like a 454 mated to a turbo 350 though..what were they thinking.
I have a few turbo 400 ''s laying around.
Anyone know if it's a short or long tail?

If a TH350 is built for it it'll only soak abut 25 HP compared to a TH400's 40HP. They built the truck for torque and the big engine for the HP they couldn't generate with a 350.

I don't understand why they would spec a 3/4 ton truck with a turbo 350?
Aren't the truck and car transmission the same?

any chance the rpo sticker is still on the truck somewhere? It'll tell you what it how it was originally ordered.

OK, That seems odd it wouldn't specify further, but what does M49 decode to?
It just says turbo-hydramatic for all engine sizes.

You got me then. Am I mis-remembering? I want to say I've seen the trans called out on the rpo as far as which one it actually got. Or is this a '73 model thing where the th350 was the only one offered?

What I posted was for the 1973 model year only. It must have been the only trans offered.
