I have a 73 C30 dually that has the original 7.50x16 LR D bias tires and wheels on it. I have been looking in wrecking yards for tubeless rims to install on it. All the used GM rims I find have 1/2 inch stud holes. The studs on my 73 are 9/16 inch. Did this change with the 76 model year? Other than the studs, the bolt pattern and center hub-pilot hole seem to match up.
What to do?
1. Keep looking for used tubeless rims with 9/16 bolt holes, do they exist? OR,
2. Use the rims with the larger stud holes, will that work OK/be safe? OR,
3. Keep the wheels I have now (which are in excellent shape but are tube type with retainer ring) and install 215R16 tires on them and leave the tubes in. Will this work? OR,
4. Any other suggestions?
