First off, my truck is an 85 C10 that was a 6.2 diesel, and now a 350 with a Holley 650 4010, that originally had the 700r4 in it.

I started my motor for the first time today and now working on hooking up the 700r4 cable. i had to modify the bracket to get it to line up straight.

What I've done so far is to push the slider all the way back to the bracket, then I hooked up the cable and manually opened the carb to WOT. I don't know if you can see in the picture, but it pulled the slider out a bit. From what I have read here and some directions from other sites, this is supposed to be the correct way to set the cable up. There is no slack in the cable. I can push down on it a bit.

Any thoughts on if I set it up right or not? I have not drove the truck yet.

Here are some pics of mine..ran through the process of adjusting. Had some issues with the gears today going in and out. If popped the hood and manually did wot a few times, seemed like it would shift fine. After a few miles of easy driving, would go to downshift and be back in 1st hear with no upshift..It's a 350 tbi mated to a recent rebuild of a 700r4. Anything look out of whack? Think I need a different bracket for the cables?

Taking it back to the shop that did the rebuild this week. Will update with the findings.

What he said !! ^^^ . Either that or a kinked cable but usually the valve is hung up. Sometimes you can free it up by removing the cable and using the connector rod to jockey the linkage and sometimes you get just a little bit more push and it'll free the valve and it might be OK forever. Just never know. But yes the Transgo Jr kit fixes alot of them minor details that can go wrong.

Burban is in the shop again. Guy that did the rebuild said he did a shift pro Jr style shift kit in it and is now having to take the unit out and inspect the guts. Hoping it's not in long, but thankful for warranty work.
