700R4 issues

[85'C10]

Just picked up an '85 C10 Silvarado, had a knocking engine so we swaped in a 350 and got it running, drove it for a day and the trans shifed gr8. second day started hesitating when shifting from 1st to 2nd now it seems like it is stuck in 1st, it will shift but it shifts hard. Dosent make any noises tht we have noticed but it almost redlines the engine to shift. We thought we burned the lock wires on the headers but turned out the wires were fine and they went to some thing else totally. Kinda stuck on this one, don't know much about 700's if it were a 350t or 400t no prob. worked on plenty of them.

I lost all forward gears on my 84, which has a motor swap along with a 700r4 trans. My truck ended up going into my transmission shop for a full rebuild. With corvette internals, a shift kit and a low stall converter...total cost was $1200 out the door. It was back to me in three days. Best bet is to limp it into a shop. If it has those symptoms, its more likely to be a rebuild.

Did you hook up the TV cable and adjust it properly?

Also possible TV valve is hanging up.
