Long shot here, or maybe Retro can get into his magic box of tricks if it goes back far enough.

My SIL was given his dad's 67 Chevy Nova. He took the damn steering column out of it since his dad had another one, and THREW IT AWAY. Then he goes to install the new used one and realizes it's different, so THREW IT AWAY too. Now this car has sat for 4 years with noway to drive it, and a brand spanking new motor never been fired up sitting in it.

Anyone know what year make and model of vehicles I can rob a column from and not have excessive labor or headache to make it work???

I believe the car was originally Powerglide column shifted. The column he was putting in it 2nd time was a 3 on the tree column he said. I didn't get to see either. I'd have left the original in the car and damn sure not not thrown it away to the trash man. Now the car has a cable operated ratchet shifter so the column doesn't need shifter provisions. Pretty much just turn signal and horn is about all it needs. Not sure where the E flasher switch is located. I'd imagine on the column somewhere also?

I saw some on ebay ranging from $381 to $833. Hope he learned a lesson there. Never throw away parts from a classic car.

Your Sister-In-Law is a man?

My manual doesn't go back that far but it seems they are 1967 Chevy II only but 1966 should fit.

Yeah, We've seen the high dollar Ididit units and was hoping to get by for about $50 or even $100 for something used. If I knew what interchanged I'd just go to Pull A Part and get one for $30. I told my SIL, if he ends getting one of those Ididit units, I'm going to change the engraving and to IanIdiot. He feels pretty stupid about it so I've been lightweight on him about it.

Haven't done anything with it. Just keeping an eye open for one.
