Hope this helps someone. I was wanting to replace the current fuel and filter housing on my 6.2 and found the normal swap to the 6.5 style is no longer available. I’m a tech for a John Deere dealership and decided to swap it to a John Deere housing and filter. See attached pics for all part numbers and items. This keeps the WIF sensor and fuel heater working but you will have to swap the connector ends. Total price in 2026 ~400 for everything but the filter is cheap to replace once you have everything else.

If my '83 didn't have the factory spin-on primary fuel filter/water separator, I'd swap it to that. Simple, easy to replace, elements readily available everywhere. I'm glad that setup works for you, but it seems to me like a staggering amount of money for a fuel filter.

Thanks for posting this Dougo. I need to replace the filter setup in my CUCV. Not sure I want to throw $400 at it but glad to know this solution exists. Just curious, could the heater be added at a later time? It looks like the assembly comes with a cap in the area if you chose to not install it?
