So onto a new post for yall, but old news for me.

Last time around Christmas i picked up and bought a 55 chevy truck, (3100) for my wifes Christmas. Its something me and her will restore and she can drive with her name on the title one day.

No title, no motor, no trans. I think for 2300$.

I went thru all of the legal channels and played all the games and got a real title with my name on it finally . It came thru in like july or august of this year.

Its not a completely rusted thru shitbox but it willl need a new floor, bed rails, and some general rust repair in places.

Steal or no steal?

They usually for a solid 5 around here in this state.

Havent decided on what we are gonna do with it .
Honestly putting the c10's old 250 i6 back in it with a 3 on the tree would be sexual, but i was thinking for her to get out of the way of traffic, put a 4200 inline 6 in. Which is commonly found in trailblazers.
A fuel injected inline 6 with either a 3 speed auto, or a 4 speed auto. She said she didnt want to make it manual.
No LS crap! Gotta keep it a straight 6. I dont care if its a 2Jz in there

Im pretty torn on what to do, but i know without a doubt first we need to take it apart and start cutting and welding metal in!

I still got more to post in my other threads on this site, im just going thru them one thread at a time.
I gotta create one for my trailblazer later.

@Vbb199 first, it is GREAT to see you posting here again.

Second, my best friend drove a '55 like that when we were in high school and college. It was painted the same blue as the passenger fender in your last pic, the color under the 3100 badge. They still have the truck but it hasn't moved in almost 10 years.

That truck was originally a pale green color but they went with that blue when they repainted it in the late '70s. His truck has the original inline 6, a granny 4 speed manual and a very, very low geared differential. It would probably run 70 mph but at 65 it felt like it was at redline. I remember the enormous starter button on the floor to the right of the accelerator pedal. I was looking through that truck recently, they still have the original owner's manual.

I suppose you know that your truck is sort of a '55 and a half? The first part of the '55 they were still the older body style.

Good luck with the restoration. I love that thing.

Yea its something like a 4.30 geared rear end.

10 bolts in the diff. But i think its that removable 3rd member. Pretty low geared. Would pair with a 700/60e good.

I took this pic at Cruisin the Coast because this truck is the same color as my friend's. I take pics of these trucks and send them to him just to torment him for letting that truck sit and rot.

You did just fine at that price, especially if you were able to get a title for it. The days of sub 1k classic projects are long past.
I paid $450 for my 50 F1, and similar ones now are in the $3-5k range.
