Hello everyone!

I want to get a dressed383 stroker motor. I was going to have it shipped to my house and do the swap myself. How difficult is it to remove the old motor from the truck and install the new motor?

Are there any threads that show how to do this?

Any good advice from those that have done this in the past?

It's very easy.

Be sure to disconnect the torque converter and push it back into the transmission before you pull the motor out. You could damage the torque converter otherwise.

If the 383 has a bit of a cam in it, you may want to take this opportunity to change to a looser torque converter.

If you have factory manifolds, you may risk breaking the three wee studs that hold the down pipes. Hose them liberally with penetrant and use a bit of heat. Or buy headers.

As stated, very straight forward to R&R those motors in a square. Regarding those 3 studs holding down the pipe, use a good penetrant and lots of heat, I like to get them red hot w/ oxy/acet. Replace the steel nuts w/ brass to make things super easy down the road.
