Been forced to remove/repair a veritable gang of wires under the dash.
It allll started upon noticing the headlights flickering.
Blah blah, use your imagination...typical live 12 volts - bare wire end under the dash, that is really three different pieces, across the valvecover, in a melted bit of wire loom what iswrapped around a wire bolted to the block with most of the hacking localized in three different circuits.

There is some good reason the side mirror attachment covers are broken, i'm sure. Y u had bonus tweeters?
Lame!

Ho-hum.

There was some thing with wires butched in the dash, evidenced by the remaining speaker wires found tucked everywhere littering wirenuts - SOMETIMES.

This is an EX though. It HAS the good 7 speaker system/factory sub/amp - so wtf?

Results as follows;

-Intermittent HVAC blower loss of power / noisy
-sunroof INOP = fuse blown found with wire attached to battery wrapped around it
-headlights flicker
-passenger window umm...lacks voltage/power
-door locks have mystery functions
- I hate not being able to hold 4th lol

So I un-rigged all that stuff and fixed it up prior to having my buddy at oReilly test the charging system.

Watchin it spike to 15.8 idling in the lot.
A bunch. :( eff.

I researched about the SIX HOUR idler job and swapped out the OE belt instead.
$30.
;)

Improvement but not repair. :( effffffff.

How mush a good one then?
The alternator.

Actually found one for sale! grr.

SCORE on the alternator !!

Japanese parts are expensive, but, in the case of the 2 older Toyotas I have had - WORTH IT.

Lol.
I am primarily concerned with consistency. I dont ask much but it simply cannot break. I maintain that I have had neither of my 30 year old Chebbies long enough to make that so BUT, in my defense , they are both major.league. broken right now and it's not my fault, **** was jacked up when I got em.

Cheaper to buy this friggin Honda.

I had it up to 96mph this morning but it's too small Miata guy.
I got a buddy that loves em.

It is not comfortable.
Like the Honda.

Good for short trips around town sure, but the ride leaves me wishing I was in a thirty year old Chebby. Screw gas mileage, I could not care less.
Working 12 hour shifts is almost too much time in a Civic, just sayin though. The side bolsters in the seat suck.d*ck.

NOT comfortable!

AND !

It appears that I have fixed my light dimming problem simply by un-rigging the P/O's rigging. The last of it finished up yesterday and seemingly solved my troubles as evidenced last night.
But woah! Only 44k? I reckon we'll run that one anyways- I've seen what good ones cost...I ain't sending it back! Reckon I'll get my buddy to test it all again.
Mmm. Vindication!
Yusss:)

Hold on, you are putting all this time, money and effort into fixing a car that isn't yours? Lol.
Better hope the owner doesn't flake out and renege on you.

Yeahhhh you not the only person had that idea either but dude actually wants to pay for the stuff. He bought the alternator, bought 1 wiper, I just turn the wrenches while he watches...
He threw me a bone the other day after the trans drain and fill. The next day, his old lady offers me cash to do it to her CR-V. They started gettin ideas I guess but as least they came at me right. ;)

Time reveals all.

Very up front...
Honda must be brought to standard or no-go
THEN it may be worth buyin.

I've decided to run away and join a pit crew in North Carolina.

Reckon I might as well, check this out:

Last night my shift was 6p-6a.
Clear across town and a piece down the Interstate = 19 miles one way.

I hit the road with ample time..?
Twenty minutes.
Nineteen.

This photo was taken at 5:45, almost half a mile from my home.

Half a mile!

Sooooo I call my boss. Gonna be way late.
(I imagine an undigging the spare tire abortion)
I hang up...
Boom!
Pit crew takes over.

Thirteen minutes later, I'm driving away.
5:58 looks like this :
I'm shocked it was inflated!
What luck?

Call my boss back.
@55 mph I was an even twenty minutes late.

First interaction @6:56.
Shaping to be a very, very, long night.

Anyways , I drove most of the night.

Headed home @ 06:01and wtf is making that noise?
Picked up someshit or cut it or someshit.
Donut is going flat.

Dang.

*stomps on it*
55 mph be damned!

Remember the part about " clear across town ONE WAY"?

Dang.

I was probably two miles from my exit and Discount Tire when it went flat.
I imagine.

Anyways!

Discount Tire is NEXT DOOR to Hibdon and only one is open today....at 0900.

I always always always thought I was the exact opposite of the people that drive on flat tires, until today.

It was 30 something degrees and I had been on the interstate practically alone...so I went for it lol. It was the perfect opportunity.

Sunday morning the streets are extra vacant.

Omfreekingawd howexciting!

Here it is in my driveway @ 0645

I told yall it needs tires, maybe you'll believe me now!

So I sent pix. Even gave seller the ball and didnt contact ebay.

LKQ gave. it. away. + refunded 100%.

The fading blinky headlights seem to have most of the trouble coping with wtfe is the matter with this Civic but i'm naturally not convinced the alternator has the root and it started trippin again. Window speed fixed still, power locks settling down, and i'll bet the cash in your pocket that the sunroof is fixed but it's said to rain tomorrow.

Anyways, okay, cool LKQ.... thanks?
Reckon i'll swap pulleys and give it a shot anyway. ida done that for a discount but whatever...?

Last week I started wandering/wondering into chassis grounds - not knowing the car's history except it's been possibly wrecked and obviously painted. Civic gots a used-to-be red driver door on it and the majority of the front end plastical structure is gone behind the bumper.
cover.
thing.
Somethin to fix everywhere I touch and bad re-paint job on top of already bad 2009 Honda paint.
see recall/paint warranty extension.
blech.

I ran some screws in the fender a while back to fix the bumper cover..man style.. Broken plastic repaired with metal screws by a man using a cordless power tool.
'Merica!
:rockit:

fixed forever in 5 seconds **** you.

:worthy:
took longer to find the screws, you know how it is.

:patriot:

$25 didn't buy much tire from the mexicans though...
:boxed:
I guess 1mm still counted.

and spending the same $ on wheels as on tires dont make no sense.Gotta get a cheap pair tho for sure cant run that long where im goin. lol sad face.:(

:banghead:

pretty sure there may be a ground wire missing off the core support.
:bs:
that's what's up in Honda Heaven, I'll not mislead yous.

i bought another donut out of a different Civic on the LKQ lot a couple miles from my house. $19.96+$3.00 pocket fee.
the same $25? how'd that work?
:893Chainsaw-Smilie-

i dunno what an ELD is yet but if you are curious....unsurprising to find it's not just me.

ya. obliviously... wait. obviously i'm not a Honda tech. ;) haha
One could argue Hondas are why I stopped fixing cars to begin with but thats a story is for a different time..

Reckon that little dealy is the problem and I got a free 44k alternator to boot.

so far so good...it's been moved back in line though.

One of us was wheelin and dealin down at Discount Tire today.
Two flats last week and I gotta go back allll weekend.
Need tires NOW, I has 6-6 tonight.

scored a deal on a set of Honda 15" steelies - with hucaps!

*boing*
PROMISE to paint them aluminum. ;)

AND bought a pair of the cheapest 16s possible for $70.
Neighbor bought one even.

xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media

you dont gotta like Pantera (i dont) to recognize that is an awesome recording. ;)

Leaving my Discount Tire today I realized that we have reached a.new.level. of car crazy that I reckon was...25 years in the making.

not only have I put four tires on my neighbor's car - so I can drive it to WORK - but I bought wheels for it too. lmao.

where's that Pirate?
:ehcapt:

Didn't put the summer tires on layaway yet but that's a plan. whatever.

Man, if 4 bux solves it ...

:rockit:

Whaddya gonna be in it total if you give $1200.00 ?

And, thought of you today :D when I was behind a metallic blue Honda something with a very mild fart tip and brake lights that flashed like 3 times before glowing solid.

Kind of eye catching in a good way.

I'd have driven it, but betcha 5 bux my Cobalt would smoke it.

BOOOOOOST , baby !

dang.
I value your input pal, thanks for playing.
:gathering:

I was thinking about that money too.
The longer I play with it, the closer I get to $1000, he aint gotta like it but...it is what it is right?
I fogure i've roughly spent the couple hundred bucks on the Honda (+tires) that i'll have to spend fixin the Camaro.
Neighbor is very grateful and is bein super cool spendin money I ask him for BUT i'm thinking it's time to stop.
We're reaching the point now where cost will actually outweigh immediate benefit and i'm gonna stop spendin money on the Civic until something changes.
It has been raised sufficiently in quality as it nears FLEET GRADE.
I can stand it now and it aint scary anymore, not gonna break anytime soon after new rubbers Im able to relax.

Really, ive spent about the same I guess. I am working from the recent proven dependence of the Civic, to spend THAT money FIRST. I dunno, it makes sense to me.

Thinkin were gonna move on now. Stack the wheels in the corner and call it good lol...as for swappin alternator pulleys?
That alternator is goin to sit on the stack of wheels until its' turn.
If I learned anything about fixin on cars - many times if it ain't broke, it don't need fixed -and I believe that would be merely tempting fate.
Nah. It can wait.
I'll not disturb it further if I can help it. She's almost good riiiiiiiiight now! :waytogo:
Friday aint far.
