First post - been lurking for quite a while.

The title says it, there's nothing bad about plastic - I'd just prefer having the metal.
Been doing searches here there and everywhere but not really finding a metal chrome grille that matches the OEM design.

What have others done?
My searches could have missed a vendor.

Is this a straight-out custom shop build?

Thanks.....

Since the OE grilles been plastic since the 60s? there’s certainly no OE replacement in metal. And I’ve not seen any that look OE that are metal.
Doesn’t mean they don’t exist I suppose, maybe someone else has found something like that.

I didn't know for certain if all OE had been plastic.
With that in mind I'll have to start checking custom shops.

That's the danger of my trying to be unique - it always ends up costing me more money.

What about the old tube style grille? Those are metal.

And I think they are available in the LMC catalog (or make your own).

The last year Chevy trucks had a metal grille was 1970. GMCs went to 1972. Here is my plastic replacement:

The larger GMC letters are from a medium duty truck. I had to bend the M to fit the contour.

They dont have it on their site, but they are currently designing the 85-87 grill. Based on this, it wont be cheap, but its all hand made and im sure will look awesome.they will have OE appearance, but be metal.
