Once its bowed its done for and nothing can really fix it. You need a new hood and then add a good solid 1/8" or 3/8" flat bar to the bottom to prevent it from happening again.

I don't see why our 76 bowed all the time we just pushed it back flat, if we had aded the braces it woul dhave fixed it since it woul dhave held it down flat.

Wait a sec. 73 hoods aren't the same as the late 80s models are they? You don't have the wiper cowl piece between the hood and windshield. Will an 85 hood fit your 73?

NO 73-80 and then 81-87 can't swap unless you do the entire front clip

There is surely a scrap yard in Joplin that will have one.

I bent the hood on my regal. Forgot the magnetic tray when I closed the hood. Put a 2x4 at the front and carefully bent it back. You'll still need the braces so it stays straight. It won't be perfect but if it's a work truck it's cheaper than a new hood.

Hey guys I have a hood that is bowed up where the hood meets the fendera. Is there anyway i could fix it? Thanks!

The hoods on 73-80 trucks at some point bend/bow when the hinges get stiffened over time. The hoods are designed to bend in that area in the event of a front end collision. I know there are brace kits for them, but my question is how safe are they. I myself would just be on the look out for another GM hood in good shape, and get new or lube up the original hinges really good, and maintain them.
Just my thoughts from articles that I've read in the past.
