    Charcoal/evap hookup help

I'm not sure if this will help you out or not but this is the diagram for mine on my 81 C10. Your probably is very similar. Good luck!

    THM 375

Hey y'all, just wondering if anyone here has ever seen a THM 375 in a truck as new as 1981. I've been researching this for some time but I keep hitting a dead end. My 81 C10 short bed has a THM 375 in it. According to everything I've read these were phased out long before this truck was built...

Anybody replaced Pitman shaft seal before?

Just wanted to follow up my previous post, that link to the rebuild was for reference, unless you really want to go all the way. I merely cleaned mine up and resealed it. I followed these instruction from Texas Firefighter here in this thread. His directions were spot on and considering that...

Anybody replaced Pitman shaft seal before?

http://www.fourwheeler.com/how-to/transmission-drivetrain/129-0801-saginaw-steering-box-rebuild/ I replaced mine, along with the input shaft seal, all internal o rings and the end cap o ring, it was not that hard and well worth the time. That seal is a double seal and if you don't drop the gear...

Help me please! PS Pump and they keep sending me the wrong one!!!

I had a similar problem with my 81. I reworked the entire power steering system, pump, gears, hoses, it was a night mare because no one could tell me what was going on. What I found out was that the previous owner(s) had put a pump on the truck that was not supposed to be there. But I had...

    Finally!

Well I hope so but I'm not counting on it, yet. I know that the doors have to go, the bed needs to be removed, got rust around the back window, not sure how bad yet, got rust on the passenger side floorboard/dash/windshield/floor vent/cowl. So next step is to pull it all apart body wise and get...

    Finally!

So I started this 1981 C10 short bed fleet side, tons of em out there, over 2 years ago and finally got all the mechanical stuff under control. Of course I got robbed a couple of times along the way but at 8g into it, including purchase price, I don't think it's all bad. I had plenty of help...

    Cowl Stuff

I forgot to mention that the right hand side, where the vent is, yes I have factory AC, is where the rust is. But I think that was due to the windshield leak and it came down between the dash and the firewall area, but once again, until I open it all up it's hard to tell. I didn't see any...

    Cowl Stuff

Thanks for the great photos and detailed reply Chengny! That was very helpful. I've looked a quite a few photos of that area, on both sides, from people who were rebuilding them and the firewall area, so I think I finally have a good idea of how that entire contraption works and is configured...

    Cowl Stuff

I'm still plugging away at my 81 C10. Finally making a bit of progress. What's complete, engine, transmission, rear axles/differential/bearings, front wheel bearings, steering gear, steering components, radiator, carb, water pump, fuel pump, alternator, gauge circuit board, and shocks. So...

    Cowl removal difficulty level

I've been researching cowl drains but have yet to find any information that is helpful. Anyone know exactly where these are and how they work? I have some rust on the passenger side from the windshield down. I know the windshield seal is bad and all of that is due to come out and be replaced. I...

    ac vacuum lines

I don't have a photo of mine but it's very simple. There is a vacuum canister that only allows vacuum one way, it's oem and there are plenty of them around, mine is the shape of a ball, most of them are. Mine was on the firewall but that area is not in good shape, need some rework and it's...

    Oil Pressure

Thank you sir 350 that is what I'll be doing in addition to adding an oil cooler. I appreciate everyone's feedback!! Have a great weekend all!

    Oil Pressure

I think that the clearances are loose now, otherwise a stock pump should give me a bit more pressure than I'm getting. That's why I figured that a HV pump would work well. On my Pontiac I believe they put a HV pump on it when it was remanufactured and it has held pressure better than any engine...

    Oil Pressure

The 25 psi I'm getting is not at idle, that is driving speed, don't know what my RPM's are though. About 10ish PSI hot idle and 25ish PSI hot driving speed. So you guys think this is acceptable oil pressure for a new engine?

    Oil Pressure

Well it is building with engine speed but once warm I'm getting about 25 PSI. I just think this is a bit low for a new engine and over time it will drop as the engine wears. Maybe best to wait until I see a drop then switch to a HV pump? I've got a 70 LeMans with 45,000 on a remanufactured...

    ac vacuum lines

Well I found out what my problem was eventually. The vacuum canister had been removed so that the vacuum line was connected to the wrong port from the carb, via a mechanic I hired who clearly didn't know what he was doing. I put in a new vacuum canister and routed the vacuum line to the intake...

    Oil Pressure

Hey guys any advice on oil pressure? I just put a remanufactured engine in my truck, got about 250 miles on it and it seems that the pressure is low to me. I sent it back to the builder and he said he has examined it and is satisfied with the lubrication of this engine. It has a stock oil...

    ac vacuum lines

Wow that was quick and well worth the price of admission. <(^_^)> Thanks a ton. I'll try to get around to tackling that in the next few weeks. Got to get the wheel cylinders replaced in the rear this week, did the front flexible brake hoses last week. Slowly but surely it's coming back together...

    ac vacuum lines

Ok my truck is still together, 81 C10, I know how to get the issue resolved with my controller but I'm not sure how to get the switch in my hand so I can get it connected again. Some nut before me has monkeyed with it and I can see what the issue is just can't get my hand on it. How can I get...
