    Clearance Paradox

I call it clearance paradox. Having more wheel clearance than can be used due to the plowaceous nature of the suspension. :gathering:

I've used a spread-opened crimp connector to fix mine while awaiting the new cable from LMC.

    Backfiring under load

Could it be fuel delivery? My old 69 leans out sometimes when I romp on it. I can also ease into it and prevent the backfiring.

Looking at it and pondering it is an important part of the process.

What have you done to your square lately??

I cleaned up my engine oil cooler adapter and installed it onto the engine. I installed new Dorman cooler lines. The upper one would not fit on the adapter or the cooler. I figure it's made in China and today is my day to get some useless Chinese junk. I ordered an AC Delco. I've never had a...

What have you done to your square lately??

I mounted my new transmission oil cooler today. I was careful to allow clearance for the hood safety catch. Also, I didn't care for the hoses situated at the top of the cooler. I understand that it's to keep oil in the cooler so you don't push an air pocket into the transmission. In order to...

Barn Find: 1987 4x4 Not Running

Assume everything needs to be fixed. If the PO wasn't a gearhead it probably needs all the little stuff as well as some big stuff (i.e. knuckle seals, u-joints, wiring, etc). Might be a bargain anyway as long as you don't have great expectations.

    PCV Valve Orientation

I thought it was an integrated PCV when I ordered it but it's hollow. I figured it would look cool. I've never done bling before so I'm doing it this time.:party36: Thanks for the replies.

What have you done to your square lately??

I found the braided fuel return line had a rub hole in the braid. Rather than replace the length of hard line I ordered up a 37 degree flaring tool and some AN fittings to repair it. I'm re-plumbing for a different fuel injection system anyway so it isn't a big deal.

    Getting the TBI running again

Maybe a stupid question but is it possible to have switched the fuel fittings?

Here's a couple pics. The beast is in the background. I'll be replacing the bicycle tires after the axle swap.

No problem. I replaced the strap with the double loop strap from a motorcycle tiedown. I tied a knot in it and it was the perfect length.

I just joined this forum recently. I bought a 1987 Suburban from an older gentleman who used to use it on his deer lease. The only thing wrong with the body is a dent in the right cargo door from when it opened all the way into the tail light because the limiting strap failed. It had/has...
