    Yep, I put about 5 gallons more in it and nothing. So then I checked for spark. Just glad I had and extra one laying around. Actually seems to run better too.

    turns out it had no spark. Turns out it just happened at the right time. I happened to have another distributor laying around so I swapped it out. Running great now. Thanks for the help guys!

    probably 4-5 gallons and I probably used up a gallon before it died again. I will try throwing some more in it as well.

    No it ran out of gas, then I put gas in the truck and drove it. I can see gas going into the carb.

    Ok, I will make sure the jet is not clogged and we have spark first. Any ideas on how to clean that if need be?

    that's what I'm going to check after work. It had new plugs, wires and distributor put on about a year ago so I wouldn't think it would be that. But you never know until you check. So you think the fuel pump is not damaged since it still pumps? I heard it mixed emotions on it.

    I took the line off the side of the carb to make sure fuel came out. It has a edelbrock 1406 carb.

    it is a mechanical fuel but fuel is still pumping. I'm trying to see if the fuel pump can be bad but still pump fuel, just maybe not enough. Or if I need to look into a different issue.

    ok, so I can rule out the sending unit as it does get fuel. Could the fuel pump be damaged and not pump enough fuel maybe?

    Carb is just over a year old. I was not able to go out yesterday but I am today after work. I'm just not sure where to even start at this point. Could the fuel pump be bad even though it still pumps fuel?

    Gas is pumping to the carb though. If the sending unit was bad wouldn't it not send gas to the pump?

    perfect, that is the one I thought it was. There is a aftermarket one on the truck now. But it stopped working the other day. Do not like the idea of driving around without know the temp. Maybe I'll pick one up on the way home and track down the infamous dark green wire!

    no it is not registering at all. My gas tank is maxed out but I think it is because the ground strap is broke. I have those and the oil pressure gauge to fix and I'm back in business. I have fixed a bunch of issues in the past 7 days.

    Thanks, don't think I really need to have idle stop hooked up. I'll see if I can track down that dark green wire tonight.

    what do you mean default placement? I found a clip that has a pink with black stripe and yellow. It is hooked up to nothing. Was hoping that would be it since it would be an easy find.

    Well as I mentioned I'm new to working on these motors. But some there is no downshift cable at all or a vacuum line. So tonight I will be hooking up vacuum and working on timing. Downshift cable is ordered and I should have the first of next week. I'm going to assume this will help solve...

    Thanks for the help! I'll give this a try and let you know how I fair. Like I said I'm new to these older motors and only tranny work I have ever down is change clutches. I'll check the kick down cable and vacuum line. I probably will not have time until Friday night.

    I made sure it as top dead center. I was not aware there was timing tape though. Although it still seems to be a degree or two off. How to I know if it is correct without a light?

    TH350 sometimes shifts hard

    I have a 85 chevy c20 (automatic) and every once in a while when it shifts gears it shifts hard. Then the next time it might shift smoothly. I have not done anything yet and looking for advice on where to start. Thanks for the help guys.
