    Make sure when using a heavy duty or severe duty fan clutch that your fan is compatible. If your fan is has less than a 3" blade or not enough pitch it will not produce enough drag to disengage the clutch and may not pull enough air to cool the clutch.

    Well, pulled the timing cover and found the timing set had been replaced sometime in the past with a cheapy standard melling kit and it was "really" stretched. Plus, they installed the cam button which the mark IV does not use. I have had the intake manifold off so I know there are no roller...

    Remove everything. Use a wire wheel on the backing plate, paint it with whatever engine enamel your local stores sell (I like Duplicolor low gloss black). You can save the E-brake lever, the adjuster assemblies and the spreader bar, wire wheel those and leave un-painted. get some hi-temp brake...

    Hey just checking. :) I've seen more than one set of brake shoes ruined with new drums being installed before removing the cosmoline. It certainly makes the brakes lock up way early... ;)
