    Let’s talk PCV systems.

On stock engine one valve cover has pcv with vacuum and the other is fresh air from air cleaner or breather. If you do two vacuum pcv's, too much vacuum in the crank case can suck in the engines gaskets and cause leaks. Two breathers (no vacuum) and you might build up to much pressure in crank...

    Catalytic Converter

Those old pancake style cats were restrictive when new, I definitely felt a horsepower bump when I switched to a modern honeycomb cat.

use sheet metal nibbler to reduce the potential of sparks when cutting the hole, Mericks garage on youtube has a good video on this.

Yes that looks like the wire to connect to for a tach.

    Comp Cams Break in

I would agree with you but people are wiping lobes on mild cams, and even roller cams have their issues. Quality control, IMO, is the problem, especially with lifters. Have to stick to good company like Howard's or Crower

To Tint or Not to Tint

Don't know your state laws but don't give cops a reason. I will tint the back window(s) but fronts are asking for a pull over in the Peoples Republic of California.

    Comp Cams Break in

No one used break in springs in the past, radical cams are not knew, they've been around for decades, I believe the problem today is quality control on materials and fitment.

Do throttle body or carb spacers actually help?

It may have increased mpg, although 5mpg seems like a stretch. I have never measured mpg before, I'm around 15-16mpg on my suburban but that also after a good tune and tbi rebuild. The salad bowl can be easily felt with how the engine revs more freely.

Do throttle body or carb spacers actually help?

Ive used spacer didn't notice anything. Spacers can be useful to reduce heat soak but you need a phenol or wood type spacer. The best TBI mod where I actually felt a difference was the salad bowl under air cleaner.

    Digital dashes

Whatever aftermarket gauges you get use the New Vinatge USA Snap-adapt so you don't have to cut up the harness, makes it more plug and play. I used the snap adapt with Dakota Digital VHX gauges.

New R134a system - compressor kaput (what to replace)?

Ac-delco compressors tend to be the best. That being I had a new R4 compressor from acdelco that leaked so I went with a Sanden and never looked back. Also keep in mind the new parallel condenser is smaller so you will have to move all the mounting brackets inward.

Too high Hydrocarbon on emission tests-Help

If you have the original pancake cat that may be your problem, those cats are junk the beads have to replaced. A new cat with a the honeycomb design flows more and burns off excess fuel emission way better. You don't need air or air injection to run a cat, my suburban has a cat but no air or...

    Proper size AC condenser

if your running r134 you want to use the new smaller parallel flow condenser. Way better than the old tube style. For mounting you just need to move the condenser mounts inward and cut out some of the rubber isolators.

    R134a conversion

I converted to r134 with a sanden compressor with no high pressure switch. The Compressor had a relief valve so if the system is over pressurized you will just loose some freon. That being said if you use the dual gauges and don't overfill I wouldn't worry about it.

    Anybody try AT-205 for leaks?

Ive used this on a rear main seal leak and it helped but eventually after a few weeks oil started pouring out of the rear main. I believe this product eventually expands seals too much

Lets see your gauge cluster setups

Basically plug and play, but I used the dakota digital sending units for temp and oil, ran cable to coil for tach. I have a 90 burb so I was lucky the speedometer was already electric and just ran VSS signal wire to speed port on dakota digital

    Fluid film / paint

Actually I just found a can I sued to coat my frame its called RP-342, I could have sworn GM had a product of the same but I may be mistaken.

    Fluid film / paint

Ive never used fluid film but I have used that GM black waxy undercoating, paint can hold in moisture the benefit of the wax coating is it breaths.
