I am converting my 1987 Silverado to R134a. I have purchased (and returned) two condensers from large internet suppliers, height and/or width too short, mounting points did not match. Reading reviews in some of the auto parts chain stores, the exact same complaint, the size just does not match the truck. Anybody have a lead to a reliable source? Thank you in advance!

I would check eBay, and the junk yards.

Also, can you build spacers or custom brackets to make the wrong one work?

What does your factory one have for a core height and length? I see there are two maybe for your year...so far of 18 1/8" core length and 25.75" core length. And what is the production date of your 1/2 ton ?

if your running r134 you want to use the new smaller parallel flow condenser. Way better than the old tube style. For mounting you just need to move the condenser mounts inward and cut out some of the rubber isolators.
