    Center console cubby *gray*

There's a local junkyard near me that has a few of those model years in it (88+) with the center console thing you need.

Looks like it's time to part with one of my squares

Sorry to hear that but I'm sure it will go to someone that appreciates it. The squarebodies are usually well cared for.

    350 TBI high idle

Do you ever get tired of disparaging TBI's that are, in fact, not that bad of a system. You seem to forget how old these TBI's are. They are not that hard to work on.

    Jumpy oil pressure gauge

Mine would do that sometimes as well until I replaced the sensor. Reads better and doesn't jump around. I suppose it could also be the gauge itself given the age of the truck.

    8-track player install

I would think that splicing in an aftermarket unit wouldn't be too bad considering the simplicity of the speaker set up. I have a factory 8 track player for my truck that I'm going to swap in eventually. Got plenty of 8 tracks to play on it too.

Truck dies on the side of the road. Any suggestions?

So after much delay the truck appears to be working fine now. Replaced the EGR valve, Coolant Temperature Sensor, and the EGR control solenoid. Also after some looking at the wiring going to the coolant temp sensor it was a complete hack job from the previous owner. Rewired that the proper way...

Truck dies on the side of the road. Any suggestions?

I do plan on driving it around again here soon. I gathered quite a few spare parts over the years since I owned it so I can swap stuff around if need be. Gas cap should be fine but I'll check that too once I get around to it. I defiantly won't be driving it far, that's for sure.

Truck dies on the side of the road. Any suggestions?

Sounds like you just got a bad truck or some wiring issue is going on. TBI's are held in high regard, easy to work on, and rather dependable.

Truck dies on the side of the road. Any suggestions?

The module on the new distributor I bought the first time around was faulty. This new distributor from NAPA was installed after the wire was repaired and the one fuel injector was replaced too. I'll look into the PCM as well, again. Stuff has come up so it's on the back burner for a couple of days.

Truck dies on the side of the road. Any suggestions?

Looks like it could still be in the distributor maybe? Maybe you got a bad module in the new distributor? I've gotten bad ones before that didn't last. I mean if I got ANOTHER bad module from another brand new distributor that would be ridiculous.

Truck dies on the side of the road. Any suggestions?

Another quick update. Went back, put the battery back in, and it started back up after some cranking and pushing on the gas pedal. Once it evened out it ran good. Started driving for a few miles and it did the same thing where it wanted to die, acted like it wasn't getting fuel, so I throttled...

Truck dies on the side of the road. Any suggestions?

Sounds like you got a lemon tbh. I haven't had a problem with my truck as long as I owned it until now which was, more or less, a problem that I caused. These trucks are generally very reliable and simple to work on. My father is an old school mechanic, thankfully. I posted the issue on here...

Truck dies on the side of the road. Any suggestions?

I probably replaced the fuel filter 3 or 4 years ago. Unsure of how many miles. Will hopefully find out more tomorrow.

Oh I will be doing some testing. Just theorizing. You mean the port for the OBD1 system?

Truck dies on the side of the road. Any suggestions?

Still didn't get the truck back home yet. Picking it up tomorrow. I have a feeling it's not related to the fuel pump. Whatever happened when it blew that fuse has been causing me problems. Might go to the junkyard and grab an entire electrical harness off of another. Perhaps melted a wire...

Truck dies on the side of the road. Any suggestions?

Thank you. I searched and did find the chart you're talking about. Also quick update. Went back over tonight and I could hear the pump running and it did briefly start up(without starting fluid) and was about to run like it did when it ran rough but it died before I could start pumping the...

Truck dies on the side of the road. Any suggestions?

Didn't sputter out. Just cut right out. It almost started a couple times when I sat there trying to crank it over but never caught. That's the thing the distributer has been replaced already just last week. I'll add a bit more context. About a month or so ago I replaced the original...

Truck dies on the side of the road. Any suggestions?

I put my ear down there but I couldn't hear anything. Way too many cars to hear it cranking let alone the fuel pump. It's fuel related so there can only be so many variables, correct? I forgot to add that I did have my friend crank it over while I watched the injectors and no fuel came out of them.
