    1 of the benefits of the vacuum advance is allowing the engine to run cooler at low rpms. That said, if the fans are too low in flow or un-shrouded, that's a big problem. Heat riser function is also a good recommendation.

    I'm of the mindset that the engineers put it there for a reason so you should leave it in place. C30 needs torque, not high end air flow. IMHO. If you don't want to live with it, you may try to sell it as is.

    Craig85: thanks for taking the time to get back to me. Much appreciated. 80brownK10: I have the correct manifolds for my year. I have a "Valve Delete" but it's very thick so the studs won't work. I have 3-1/4" studs but They're no quite long enough. It seems the OEM one is thinner.

    I looked at a set of exhaust manifolds pulled from a 1995 k1500. They were in good shape and I would have bought them except they were exactly what I have. Same bolt spacing, same pipe size.     I wish I could but I don't have the donor Y-pipe and at my age, I prefer the longevity of a single exhaust and a quite muffler. :)

    The engine slipped right in just as you would expect. And the pipes are in line with the manifolds. Engine mounts were completely different though. The through holes on the van mounts were wider, which goes to the point you made about frame rails.
