we need a mud bog forum page

Same up here in WA...it is all Sierra Club territory up here. I'm looking into buying about 40 acres so I can build my own bog. They have a couple mud boggs around here, but I like to drink and wheel so the backyard is probably better for me :grd:

we need a mud bog forum page

I'm from P'cola originally...miss it sometimes. My dad lives in Eufaula, so I get back down there from time to time. I spent a lot of time wheelin the range over by Hurlburt field too...lots of fun to be had out there!

My .02 on AG tires... A lot of guys run em back home at Jones' swamp, but their trucks seem to sink like bricks in the deep bogs. I saw some super wide AG tires on a big trailer of some kind as I was passing the tractor dealer the other day. Prolly 3 feet wide with about a 3.5-4 inch tread...

    Help me pick some shocks

From what I can tell, they're the same shocks, but the 5150's have an external res. Like I said the roads here are really bad- equivalent to driving on a dirt road, lots of washboard, ruts, and potholes

    Help me pick some shocks

Would there be any benefit to running the 5150's over the 5100's? Worth the price difference? I'm not opposed to the cheaper ones, just want to make sure I get the best deal I can find

    Help me pick some shocks

Which Procomps do you have? I know the ES ones are pretty bad, but I was looking at the MX-6's. I'm also looking at the Doetsch Tech shocks too.

    Help me pick some shocks

I have an 82 Sierra 4x4 with a 4'' lift. Springs in front blocks in back (doing a shackle flip soon). I need some decent shocks. The truck sees 95% street time, but our city streets here are about as bad as logging roads. There are tons of massive potholes and deep ruts in all the streets. So...

Overheating, but only when going up long hills

Holding up awesome still. I'd call em about the leak, they seemed pretty willing to go the extra mile. They'll prolly send you a new one for shipping since they have a lifetime warranty. Now I'm just patiently waiting for my ORD shackles to show up. My front shackle bushings are completely...

Overheating, but only when going up long hills

I ended up getting it from Napa. Surprisingly they had the best price. AZ and Oreilly both only showed a HD clutch for my truck, but it had a standard duty thermostatic clutch on it already so I bought the same one. I didn't see any benefit of having a HD fan clutch in a place where it is only...

Overheating, but only when going up long hills

Yep its cool like the other side of the pillow now! I've run it up the South hill several times in the heat of the day and it won't overheat for anything now. I ended up having to replace the fan clutch too. Got it all put back together and the next day I sprung a leak in a heater hose. I'm...

Overheating, but only when going up long hills

It was like 175 with shipping. If you have a Fedex account they'll happily bill your account and save you some money also. I know what you mean about the tubes for that overflow tank 89S. I have some hose clips I'm going to screw to the inner fender so I can control the slack in the hose...

Overheating, but only when going up long hills

Yep everything bolted in just like stock. Shroud mounted up fine and the fittings are all in the right place. The rad also has 2 plugs Where you can mount zinc anodes for sacrificial corrosion. Its a great deal for the price and they're great people to do business with. Even though I had to...

Overheating, but only when going up long hills

Well, I got everything all buttoned up today. Hottest day in a while so it was great weather for a shakedown run. Runs cool as a clam now. Ended up going with an all aluminum rad from Champion radiator. Big shout out to Champion, I had to send one back that didn't fit and they really went the...

    Truck got broken into :(

Stoney thoughts have me designing something now... I'm gonna fab up some cool removable locks out of aluminum and paint em. Next time I'm at the Depot I'll see what I can find for hardware. Should be interesting. I'll be sure to post pics...even if they suck lol

For sure! I'm gonna use the dowel trick when it gets cold

    Truck got broken into :(

I'll prolly put an alarm on as an immediate fix. These are opportunistic thieves, they aren't very sophisticated. Everybody on the street has had something broken into, or stolen, but it was usually just because they left a window cracked or a door unlocked. I may give that LMC window a shot. I...

    Truck got broken into :(

The latch assembly in my truck is a real POS. It is about as thick as a tin can, plus my window is in rough shape and there's a lot of slop in the windows that slide. They got it open without doing any real damage, it was that loose. There is one little pry mark on the aluminum where they put...

    Truck got broken into :(

Well some asshat broke into my truck. Parked right in front of my apartment too. Luckily they only stole my crappy chinese GPS and left the $1000+ worth of tools there. They pried my back slider open. Soo...my next thought is...does anybody make an aftermarket window that's a little harder...

Anyone done leaf spring bushings? 4WD

Normally I would, but I'm limited to simple hand tools and I'm stuck working on it in the street in front of my apartment (in the middle of downtown). So until we find a place with a garage (or even a damn driveway) I kinda have to pay extra for convenience.

Anyone done leaf spring bushings? 4WD

Well on further inspection of my bushings I've discovered that the shackles are all effed up now. They're all bent so I used this opportunity (and the visual impact of the damage) to convince the wife that ORD shackles are my only option. :-)

Anyone done leaf spring bushings? 4WD

After reading this thread, I went out and poked my head under my truck and sure enough my shackle bushings are beat to death (passenger side is almost gone). Mine has been clunking like that too and it's been on my list of things to check. Thanks for bringing it up! Question- I have lift...

Overheating, but only when going up long hills

Like everyone else said...160 thermostats are an old wives tale. The only time they were ever any benefit was during the early fuel injection days. Running a cooler stat would keep the computer from pulling timing and give a negligible horsepower boost. Running a cold stat on a carb motor has no...

Overheating, but only when going up long hills

I checked the yards and there wasn't anything worth trying to save. Just ordered a 2 row all aluminum rad from Champion. $179.00 shipped. Not bad at all. After shipping its about the same price as the auto zone crap would have been with tax.

    Lets see your lifted trucks

You're prolly right. The lift was installed by the PO and they did a pretty lousy job (like a lot of the other work they did). I'm hoping to do the long spring swap all around and do an ORD shackle flip, but that prolly won't happen till next winter due to lack of funds. A lot of my problem is...
