    Big 10 Catalytic Converter, lol.

I think 1980 was the last year of the Big 10’s, thanks to EPA changes to GVW emissions exemptions. The Big 10’s had to wear catalytic converters that year. I pulled out my sun visor to fix the cracked vinyl, and I’m smiling at the catalytic converter sticker on the back. It’s almost as if EPA...

    Parking Light Puzzle

My passenger side parking light only illuminates with the turn signal. Is this the sign of a bad switch at the dash? Could it be something else?

    SPID No Paint Color?

Apologies if this has been asked and answered already. I've searched the forum to no avail. I'm looking for the paint codes for my truck and the Service Parts Identification Decal (SPID) doesn't list them. Questions: 1. Anybody know whether/when/why Chevy wouldn't have listed paint codes on the...

    Rust Repair Under Molding/Trim

Today I launched a project to repair minor rust under the bedside molding on my 1980. The stickers holding the molding started to pull away from the bedside and pulled the paint with them, causing rust underneath. Pic attached. I found pitting but no weak metal and no holes. I'll document the...

    Electrical Connection at Blower Motor?

Similar to the guy who posted the "Boot on blower motor" thread, I cracked my boot during installation of the new blower motor. Moreover, I can't even get my connector to lock in place, so I had to use electrical tape and zip-ties for now. NAPA says the part referenced in the thread above...

    Blower Motor Gasket?

I recently bought a replacement blower motor but it didn’t come with a gasket. An old LMC Truck video on YouTube shows an installation with a pre-cut gasket. From looking around at various vendors, it seems that most replacement motors don’t come with a gasket. Olde Carr Guy on YouTube used foam...

Noise not likely blower motor/wheel—what else?

Loud, awful noise under passenger dash, even when the heating/cooling/fan settings are off. What other moving parts are under there? My guess is there’s a vacuum connection that’s loose. Letting off the gas pedal sometimes quiets the noise. Grateful for any suggestions.

How Best to Clear Fender and Cowl Drains?

Relatively clean, low-mileage, 1980 C10. After finding rust under the bedside molding stickers likely due to poor paint prep (see my previous posts), I am now in full rust-prevention mode. Today I got under the fenders to clear out the fender and cowl drains with an air hose. The problem is that...

    Rust Under Molding/Trim--Magnets?

1980 Fleetside Silverado is rusting under the bedside molding/trim where the stickers attached to the truck. See attached pic. I love the look but I hate the idea of re-attaching the molding/trim in the same way after repairing the damage. I vaguely recall someone on here mentioning he uses...

    Gasoline in vapor canister

1980 Big 10 running great but smelling gas in the cab. Lifted the hood to find gasoline dripping out of the driver side vapor canister. I assume that means that pressure is pulling gas from the tank to the canister. Any obvious causes or things to check first? Here is the pic of the schematic...

    Full Tank, No Gas

'80 C10 with recently replaced left and right fuel tanks & related hardware (done by someone else). No problems when idling. When driving on a full left tank, the truck acts like it has run out of gas. When I switch to the right tank, no problems at all. Could the problem be the with the...

1980 C10 Wheel and Tire OEM Options

I’m having one hell of a time trying to find a website showing the OEM wheel and tire options that were available on a 1980 C10. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    New 1980 C10 Big 10 Owner

My soon-to-be new ride is a time capsule with 2,600 miles that has been sitting in a barn for the past 36 years. I can’t wait to get her out on the road again where she belongs. I’m grateful for this forum and I hope to meet other enthusiasts who know a thing or two about working on a truck...
