Silly Question but could I possibly have an ECU?

Another way out there random white smoke issue I've had before was Brake master leaking into vac booster. Only reason I found it was when I lost brakes, lol.

I think I just got screwed. Advice?

I agree, had the same issue before from O'Reilly's when I was trying to get u-joints, wanted spicer, only had precision on the shelf and was told "same as Moog", so I gambled. Didn't even last a year on my plow truck, blew the damn thing apart hoggin' with chains on. I've had no luck with...

What have you done to your square lately??

Pulled passenger door of my 86 K20, replacing PW motor and complete seals, plus rebuilding wing window. After done with this side, then will do drivers. Figured would be easier to work on it laying on the work bench, lol.

New member, taking over dad's Silverado.

Welcome, very nice truck! Love the old Keystone slots, those and smothies were my favorites.

    1965 Buick Skylark

I liked the odd fire, had a newer one that was the 231 with HEI, headers, an edelbrock performer and a holley 390 on it in a '60 willys cj5. Was definitely fun, although it ate through 3 speeds pretty quick, lol.

    Engine Temp-Too Cool

Another way to test is buy a cheap mechanical gauge and just hook it in at sender and set gauge under hood. I always keep a mechanical around for testing various rigs with issues. Using laser thermometer is not the greatest way to get a temp sometimes, have to remember that the laser is just a...

    Picture heavy. G10 nomad van

Awesome! My dad taught me how to drive in a '77 shorty, lol. Only thing you might find you want is a 4l60e for better fuel milage. My last van was a '96 express Gladiator w/ 305 auto, loved that van, whole family liked it too. I normally got 18 mpg as long as I drove decent and wasn't loaded to...

Rock auto or ebay, just be careful since the price/life ratio can nail you.

    Charging a new A/C system

Hey da_raabi, did you keep it R12 or swap to 134a set-up? The weighted volumes between the two are different from what I remember. I did the conversion on my 86 burb with dual ac, wasn't quite as cold as the r12 was, but still way better than 4/60 ac, lol. Seen somewhere that the rule of thumb...

    Newbie to the Square world!

Welcome, tons of good info here. Just curious if you got a plan for salt protection living there, lol. Maybe while your chopping and dropping, set the body aside and undercoat the whole frame, then the same for under cab and bed. Being dropped, not like you'll ever see what is under there unless...

    New guy with an issue

By fuel pump, I meant the mechanical injection pump that is mounted under front of intake manifold. Pump looks like this located under front of intake manifold. Think the average rebuilt is around $630 or so nowdays, new bosch injectors are around $42 each. The mechanical lift pump is around...

    New guy with an issue

On my 86 burb, had several issues like that. First, my starter cranking slow when up to running speed would not build enough pressure through the pump to "pop" the injectors. Rebuilding the starter got my cranking speed back up when at operating temp. Still had some trouble with hot starts after...

    Help

Oh crap, forgot the 87 has in tank electric pump. Might be the short little rubber hose on the pump outlet, ethanol does wonders to old rubber fuel line.

    Help

On my 86, selector valve is up tight right about the back of the cab off passenger side frame rail, not exactly easy to get anything off it. If you have one good tank and a bad tank leaking your fuel out, switch is stuck in the middle or something...junk most likely. If you can get the bolts out...

    1931 Chevrolet 2 door sedan (I think)

Depending on how much of the body looks like the under radiator support swiss cheese, that seems like a reasonable price to me. I've been trying to find a 29 Model A pickup for my dad for a few years and similar shape ones are around $6k in Washington and Oregon.

    SBC 427 or 434 questions

Had some motor questions not related to square body, and since this is for a small car, not sure if anyone has built one of these here. So I started seriously thinking of what motor to build for my 75 Monza Towne Coupe and immediately ran into a question. I was thinking of doing a 406 0.030...

What new tools have you got lately?

Found an older (1990) spark plug cleaner and comparator the other day...for Free, mmmm, my favorite! Probably a generational tool, but these were a necessity when I was a teen in the 80's since I couldn't afford nice cars and all my old hot rods burnt oil, lol.

    Radiator oil cooler help

Think you are right Bucket. I found a way to make it work using brass flared propane fittings, just have to cut the tube at the o-ring seat, slide fitting on, heat slightly with propane torch because the tube is pretty thick, then flare...no more o-ring leaking. It's actually the fix for the...

    Overfill TH400?

Usually overfilled causes overtemp of fluid and foaming, I only worry about it if it's severely obvious. I added the same converter to my 86 with a slightly different deep pan with a port on the side so I put a temp gauge there. First few days, I had the same issue trying to get it full and then...

    Radiator oil cooler help

So I have this '90 K2500 with a 350 auto that I ran into an issue with the radiator with. The stock radiator has a transmission cooler and an engine oil cooler, one in each tank. The engine oil cooler lines are aluminum with an O-ring and threaded fitting. The new radiator came with a brass...

Nice, thanks for the link trukman1! Almost afraid to look at the other stuff they have, tend to get myself way too many projects started then never have time to finish them, lol.

    Brake light faintly illuminated

Isn't that off the switch on the prop valve? Seem to recall having the switch fail before on a 76 I had that did that, can't remember if the switch failed or the prop was stuck.

    Car rotisserie

Another option I might do is build a chassis table tall enough that I could sit up under it like I did with my tube chassis vega I built. Actually fairly cheap to build one out of square tube using all-thread as adjustment jacks on the feet and same on the top for the pads that go under the body...

    Car rotisserie

I'm looking to get a rotisserie for doing one of my Monza's. Found one that Eastwood has that is a 3000 lb rated, anyone have something like this that might know the pro's and con's of rotisseries? My Monza is a unibody and without the motor/trans weighs around 2000 lbs. Going to paint it...
