    I think you need to use pop rivets for that. You can use screws if you don't have a rivet gun. I bought a rivet gun since I needed one anyway, they are not expensive.

    Y'all are starting to hurt my feelings. I am following this thread because my Cruise Control won't hold unless I am above 50mph and then it won't last very long. And my truck isn't exactly a "city slicker" truck. It does get used but it is a lot nicer truck inside than I expected to find.

    Did it help? My '87 still has quite a bit of slop but I think most of it in the gearbox itself. I am considering replacing the bearing at the bottom end of the steering column but really don't know if that will help at all.

    Unless they were a dual tank setup. I understand your desire to restore to perfection but the sad reality is that there are very few of these trucks that are not modified in some way. My '87 has dual tanks, this is what the fuel fill should look like on your '85.

    That's why I asked about the manifolds in post #14. @bucket posted something about it a while back on his 454SS thread. Mine was getting air in through part of the old smog system and causing me some backfiring issues. Glad you found it and got it resolved.
