What would you pay for this truck?

Ha, yeah looking back at those pics, I like my new cheap vintage looking Halibrand wheels but it’s hard to beat white steelies and poverty caps. I sold the whole set hubcaps and all, but could easily see myself going back to that look.

Will Spray max USC 2k High Gloss Clearcoat Aerosol work over metalflake paint

Yes, I didn’t mention that the rattle can clear will be **** for solids content and gloss and not able to be finished like real automotive products. But I assumed that since it doesn’t match, he was just looking for something short term to cover up the patch work and make it a 50 footer.

Will Spray max USC 2k High Gloss Clearcoat Aerosol work over metalflake paint

I’m going to say pretty much any generic Amazon cheap spray bomb product isn’t going to be great. But pretty much any paint or clear will bind pretty well to fully cured and properly prepped painted surface. If it literally just flaked off in short order it’s likely more of a prep issue.

    broken spark plug

Agreed, on that. I wouldn’t heat the head cherry red. I still think heating the head is the right move. But to be fair I hope to never have to find out. Lol. Been quite a few years since I’ve dealt with rusty cars. Although the rear differential drain plug on my kids clean 2017 Ram took some...

    Glass lock strip replacement

Short answer, yes. Longer answer, if the gasket is old and hardened it may be considerably more difficult. however I don’t think it could be more difficult than actually reinstalling the windshield. That’s a bitch! And don’t even attempt without a lock strip install tool. And smooth the edge on...

    broken spark plug

You want to heat the head, not the spark plug. Always heat the “nut” not the bolt.

Wanting a new Blazer project, new to this forum

Big blocks came stock in squarebodys, so there’s no magic or creativity involved with slipping one in. Other than long tube headers are more challenging and if you got a tall deck it may interfere with the brake booster. But as long as you’re not playing with the 500-600ci engines, that’s not a...

Front driveline angles on a lifted square

That’s a great explanation. I always knew angles needed to match without a double cardan joint but never really thought about the why.

    Rear end fluid

Damn I never thought of that! That’s a great idea. I finally bought a qt of some overpriced gear lube in the squeeze bag when I changed the fluid in the bitchin Camaro because it was that hard to get to even with a long piece of hose taped to the nozzle. I would have done that in a heartbeat...

What have you done to your square lately??

Those are the old rear speakers, looked new but both started smelling like burnt voice coils and 1 woofer left the chat about 2 min into tuning, lol. Got new ones tonight and buttoned everything back up. I’m surprised how loud 3.5s and 4x10s are with some clean power to them! The amp isn’t...

Feel like a real win when something like that works out!

What have you done to your square lately??

Clean truck! Not goobered up after the years and bad or worn re-paints. Not much paint removal involved there if you’re gonna paint it.

    82 style bunper fog lights

Thanks @Ricko1966. Still not certain if the OP understands that part of his light bulb is stuck in the socket still. This is not an uncommon occurrence with old/corroded lights of this style.

Truck won’t turn. What’s that sound?

It is however really cool to see some new participants here on the forum recently that are getting into old cars/trucks/squares, that have never heard an old car almost start or never known what/how a mechanical fuel pump works. Keepin the old stuff and old knowledge alive….

    82 style bunper fog lights

Those are your turn signals. Dig the old bulb base out of it, soak it in some Coca Cola, coat a new bulb with dielectric and install. Or buy a new socket if there’s something wrong with it.

1978 C15 Short Bed Step Side Leaf Spring Question

GMCs couldn’t be had with coils? Ha never knew that. I believe the 67-72 Chevy C10 and C20s were the last coil spring rear suspension truck until the 4th and 5th gen Rams.

Truck won’t turn. What’s that sound?

Starter sounds just fine. Engine fired and kicked out the bendix right as you let off the key. Not problem there.

What have you done to your square lately??

Finally got the stereo in the blue truck this weekend. Got the best 3.5” speakers I could stuff in the dash, lol, some kicker 4x10s all factory looking with hidden sub and amp under the seat. Got a Bluetooth mic and sub controller mounted by the steering column and it makes the Flowmaster 40s...

    retrosound.. is it enough

Doesn’t take much more to put an additional amp in it if you’re putting in a powered sub already. We just put this in my boys truck this weekend.

Better start to a project than the red one for sure. Without even opening the doors.

Wanting a new Blazer project, new to this forum

Well that one looks like a steaming pile of someone else’s unfulfilled dreams, wrapped with an ok paint job that lacked prep so it’s peeling off before it’s even finished. And that’s before adding up the lack of completing anything tedious or difficult. That said if it’s straight and rust free...

    2.5" Skyjacker final thoughts

Hahaha we need to try this. Kids buddy’s dad gave him a ORD disconnect kit and we installed it when we put the zero rates in. Still haven’t pulled the pin! Lol To be fair son was gone from Aug to April and I don’t drive the truck hardly at all. Great reminder to pull the pin and see if she’s a...

    retrosound.. is it enough

You cant really run a bigger amp with those speakers anyway, well the 50s you could crank up a bit but not the fronts. 25W rms is a slightly better than average aftermarket radio. Similar to say a newer base model vehicle. It’ll be fine, just not loud. But to be fair 25x4 goes quite a ways in...

What have you done to your square lately??

Yeah, agree with @TotalyHucked. If you really want it more shiny I might give that patina juice stuff a shot. PS, alot of RV folks swear by Zep floor polish. It was a thing before the patina juice and I wonder if it’s the same. Wipe it on a faded painted or gel coat surface and it lasts a year...

    Front Windshield

All squarebody windshields are the same size and interchangeable. Aside from tint band on top, the only difference is integrated antenna or not.
