Best Truck Roof Top Tent for Weekend Camping?

You take a blow up pool mattress or a folding lounge chair to sleep on. Slept on both many times. If I can I take the VW bus it's awesome. Went on a float trip with a bunch of friends one year all driving some kind of truck/suburban etc. Calling me on my cell harassing me,where you at we passed...

    Blown head gasket ?

Another idea although slightly more involved blow compressed air in the cylinders see if you get bubbles in the radiator on any particular cylinder. You will need to park each cylinder on the compression stroke. If air is coming out the intake or exhaust you aren't in the right position.

Replacing a single frame rail, can it be done?

If it was previously registered in Kansas and sold with a Kansas title filled out correctly,it's easy easy no one looks at anything. If it's out of state,an Antique sold with a bill of sale,a non highway title from any state including Kansas,a salvage title,an assembled vehicle title and maybe...

Replacing a single frame rail, can it be done?

Found this on another forumn. I've been through. this more than once, but no one wants to believe it,so here you go I have no idea who this guy is but same deal 99 people telling him they only care about the dash VIN but he was telling them he had to have all three numbers. I have no idea what...

Replacing a single frame rail, can it be done?

They've checked several of my cars,I fully expect them to check my 75K. The first car I remember them lifting up and checking was my dad's 1966 eldorado that was while I was in high school so 1982 or prior. This may explain some of it,maybe they aren't looking for the same numbers we are looking...

Best Truck Roof Top Tent for Weekend Camping?

I have a 1970 VW bus with a Riviera penthouse hardshell popup on it,had a 73 westy.Lots of companies made roof top tents for VW busses. I consider both of mine hard shell tents on sunroof model vw busses. My uncle had a similiar hard shell pop up on his ford econoline in the early 70s. Yea you...

    Ball joint

I read all that to begin with. I'd buy a grease gun needle and fill the boot, remove the zerk and fill the bottom. Any motion if it is completely full would have to have grease migrate through the whole joint

Needs MORE POWER!!! (Tim Taylor Style!!!)

Yes on replacement engines, bare blocks I doubt it. But the stamp was just CE complete engine,no details.

Heavy miss / stumble at 1500+ RPM.

Your still not supposed to run the choke lead off of the ignition lead.

Replacing a single frame rail, can it be done?

Well I've seen quotes on Kansas web sites about how much it curbs auto theft. And even though it can be a PITA I can see the good in it. Somebody in a state with no VIN inspection could steal your truck and buy a 500.00 beater truck, sell your truck with the 500.00 beater title and you are out of...

    Blown head gasket ?

Change the oil and filter, keep your eye on the oil level and color. You didn't blow water out of a cylinder I'm wondering if the water in the oil you found was from when you tore it down. If it drives good, doesn't overheat, doesn't have amiss at idle, the heater works consistently, not hot and...

Replacing a single frame rail, can it be done?

Kansas has been out of state sales to Kansas residents had to have a VIN verification for at least the last 40 years, and sometimes on antique registrations. Also antique registrations have to be original vehicles,no LS swaps,no mag wheels, etc. It sucks when you buy a truck from MO. that's...

    Rear end fluid

I actually use this method on most broken bolts. I put a washer over the broken bolt and weld through the hole, this then I weld a nut to the washer, works 90percent of the time. The heat from the welding frees up the fastner, the nut gives you something to turn.

    Ball joint

You don't want to heat ball joints especially not aftermarket ones, they can have bronze bushings,no problem,or nylon bushings, there's the problem.

Bad miss - could use some thoughts from y'all

Only mentioned it because infrared thermometers didn't use to be cheap, and not everyone has one. But absolutely, checking exhaust temperature no matter how, is a fantastic diagnostic tool.

    broken spark plug

I've used 50/50 acetone and transmission fluid,it works well. The science behind it is the acetone thins the transmission fluid enough to let it weep in,then the acetone evaporates leaving the transmission fluid as a lubricant. I also use wax often. If you've sweated pipe you will understand...

I do the same with my fingers have for like 30 years wet your fingers touch the manifold, use common sense. Some ports will sizzle, some won't.

Pretty easy to tell, hang straps of cardboard along the bottom side of the tank and frame.

Replacing a single frame rail, can it be done?

If you don't know how to make a jig ask us. If you do make a jig, square the old frame first. No reason to make a jig to hold a frame parallelogram. I think I'd just square it as I went 3 4 5.

    Aftermarket A/C?

That sounds awesome!!!! First thing you'll want to do is figure out what rpm that generator makes 110v at 60hz. Then all you have to do is a little math to figure out what rpm to run the engine at with your pulley arrangement, and run it at that rpm all the time. I'd bet the guys at less scwab...

    Blown head gasket ?

If you have to wait 29.37 hours to verify it's leaking into a cylinder, but you verify the problem in 29.37 hours then you've done the right thing. There is no harm in doing it that way. I would say I would not wait until all pressure was gone though. I would be afraid of bleeding off all...
