Latest Lost Cause Project: 1979 Z28

It could be that the fenders just had the normal rust at the bottom. Or like you said, maybe hit in the front. The front bumper cover kind of suggests that too, with it's chrome bezels that should be black on a Z28.

    Nylon cam gear years

Well dang, that's something that I have not ever considered. How much pitch would you say is needed for a "severe duty" type clutch? Generally speaking, of course.

With the back window out and the bed off, it's not hard to replace that outer cab corner. Think of it like a quarter panel on a car, but tall and narrow.

    Dodge Parts??? Behind seat tray

I was once with my buddy at a local glass shop, picking up a work truck. While we were in there, I told him he should price a new windshield for his truck while we were there. When the shop owner asked him what kind of truck, my buddy replied "it's an '05 Cummins". I then looked my buddy in the...

Somewhere I'm sure there's a person that has a picture of this truck laying on it's passenger side with a tree keeping it from going all the way onto it's roof.

    Dodge Parts??? Behind seat tray

So if the "Ram" model name is the determining factor, why are the 4th gens called a 4th gen? "Ram" is now the "manufacturer" instead of the model. It would make a lot more sense, imho, if they were just referred to by silly/stupid nicknames like the Chevy and Fords. For instance, the 70's and...

1978 vs. 1988-1994 steering wheel bolt pattern

I looked into it at one point in time, I could have swore it stayed the same. The earlier air bag columns used in the cars definitely had the same spline count though.

1978 vs. 1988-1994 steering wheel bolt pattern

Far as I know, GM kept the same spline count and cancel cam location even on the newer columns used in the late 90's and early 00's.

    Old77’s Oldest Kid’s 1992 S10 Blazer thread

Have you tried the dealer? It's a long shot, but there's a chance that one is still sitting on a shelf somewhere. Otherwise it's probably a junkyard thing. So, when the truck is running, there is more voltage. That could crutch a weak solenoid. But, it's also possible that it's non-ingnition...

I never understood the silly "gen" things with trucks. Especially the Dodge trucks. There were Dodge trucks looonnng before the "first gen".

3/4 Ton Dana 44 vs 10 bolt caliper brackets (backing plates)

I disagree. Maybe like pissing with no wind. Nothing gained, nothing lost. But yeah, it takes a lot of changes to make a small difference and I agree that it did nothing. But that is just my hunch, that the change might have been made for unsprung weight. Manufacturers are great at making...

What kind of shift lever is this?

Eh. VanderHaags is a good source for truck parts, but they just throw a dart at numbers to determine a price. Some stuff is very reasonable, but some stuff is outrageous.

What kind of shift lever is this?

Oh, so it's a lever from a much bigger rig. With a 90's GM knob of course.

What kind of shift lever is this?

I'd like to know what it is and where it came from too. I'm not aware of any factory transmission that used that stick.

I'm guessing the actual goal was driver comfort. Less unsprung weight means a better ride.

I've never once worried about trailer theft. Either I'm in an area with little to no crime, or I'm just ignorant. I keep my trailers parked where I can easily back up to them and go.

3/4 Ton Dana 44 vs 10 bolt caliper brackets (backing plates)

Yes, the later ones have a flimsy, stamped steel deflector. The stamped steel rusts away often, but it does not hurt the operation of the brakes.
