    Help with wipers

Did you transfer the ground strap from the old motor to the new one? It would probably be painted black and go across the edge.of the motor from bolt holes to bolt holes. I have great wipers now with good speed but no delay at all. I even tried a new delay module with no luck.

Some 700r4 questions, tv cable and shift points

Lengthened the cable sheath 2 clicks towards the carb. Now has a "normal" shift just before I show 15mph and all the other shifts happen as they should including 4th. Hard to believe about an 1/8" adjustment would effect it that much but it sure did.

    Rear Pinion Seal

It should go deeper. I just did mine and screwed up the first one. Found out the next morning when a lot of my expensive synthetic fluid was all over the drive way. Pulled it out and then took a 2x4, drilled a large hole in it so it would fit over the splined part of the pinion shaft and pounded...

Help with setting up timing on new cam/intake/dist/carb install

Just finishing up my tbi to carb swap. Working this rig on the beach was the reason for the attempt to remove as much electrical as possible under the hood. The salt water environment has played havoc on my 1990 Dodge 3/4 ton tbi as every year I'm replacing corroded sensors. Anyway, new cam...

Some 700r4 questions, tv cable and shift points

Just finishing up my tbi to carb conversion in my 1988 k5. Supposedly the trans had a rebuild about 20k ago. I have a Thunder AVS on it and bought the Edelbrock throttle arm adapter and then modded the edelbrock bracket that holds the tv and throttle cables to get the cables in decent position...

    Help with Edelbrock carb

Working on my 1988 Blazer TBI to carb swap (125k miles on stock engine) and am having some issues with the Edelbrock carb. I'm sticking with this carb so please no "junk it and get a holley" comments. Changes to vehicle: New summit 0032 cam, 204/.427 single pattern, 110 LS New timing chain New...

    Help with wipers

I drive my 1988 K5 from CA to AK in two weeks and thought I'd check the wipers before my wife and I pulled out of the driveway! They cycled 90 degrees and froze up solid, no movement whatsoever. I replaced the motor which helped but the wipers won't " park" and the delay/washer doesnt work...

    Where to buy injector pump

Ok, so remove injectors and spray back up through the injector with WD. Should it be a full stream of liquid coming through or is any liquid that exits mean that its ok? I believe he has a "J" code engine so are injectors and pump different than a "C" code engine?

Using cruise control electrical to control trans lock up

I watched a youtube video the other day and a guy had an oldsmobile I believe it was and he connected his 700r4 lock up to the cruise control circuit which he wasn't using. I need to do the same on my 1988 K5 as I've removed the TBI and gone carb/hei and I don't know that the cruise will work...

    Where to buy injector pump

I recently posted about my 20 yr old son's 1985 C20 that he just bought. Appears it has an IP problem as it smokes bad on start up and lessens but never really clears up as the engine warms up. The engine also shakes quite badly at idle. It has dual exhaust and both sides put out the same amount...

    1984 C20 6.2 trans question

My 20 yr old son just bought a 1984 C20 with the 6.2l/Th400/4.10/Eaton posi. He's going to be using it for work a day or so a week and has a 150 mile round trip. We've talked about putting a 700r4 in it to help improve the mileage ( I know in a gasser it can drop cruise rpm by 800 or so). Is a...

    Help with this driveline install

Recently purchased 1988 Blazer 5.7/700r4/208. I pulled the rear driveline as I needed to replace the pinion bearing. While I had it apart, I replaced all the rear axle bearing/seals and added a powertrax no slip locker. When I re-installed the driveline I noticed that the rear yoke didn't have...

Not All Oil Priming Tools Are Crated Equal

I butchered an old TBI dist last night just as you did yours. I'm going to try to find a 7/16" stop collar (or drill out a 3/8" collar) to put up towards the top of the shaft to keep the shaft from falling out as it bounces around from place to place in my garage.

TBI to carb swap, will the cruise control still work?

Yep, I'm driving the rig from CA to Alaska this spring, a 3000 mile trip and I'm hoping the cruise works!

TBI to carb swap, will the cruise control still work?

I'm just about done converting my 1988 K5/5.7/700R4 to a carb'd set up. I noticed today as I was cleaning up the engine bay wiring harness that the cruise control "pod" didn't have any electrical going to it, just vac lines. With that in mind, will the cruise control still work even tho I've...

    Help identify this diesel engine

Well, looks as if the truck is sold. It was a 2.5hr drive and with the snow and highway closures on I-5 in northern CA we just weren't able to get back up there to buy it in time. It does appear however, that this thread has provided lots of good info on the history of the early Chevy/Olds...

    Help identify this diesel engine

Wow, what a thread of great info! Now my son just needs to decide if he wants it or not. Body is ok but has some rust where a camper shell was mounted and it then leaked so its rusty along the top bed rails and then where the tail gate/bed meet. Has a th350 it appears. The guy wants 2400.00 for it.

    Help identify this diesel engine

so, is there any way of verifying the actual year of this engine? Do you think its 78/79 or the newer version?

    Help identify this diesel engine

My 20 yr old son drove 3 hrs today to look at a canadian built 1979 C10 factory diesel with supposedly a newer 1985 engine. Upon looking at the pics he took and sent me, I'm confused on what this engine is as the hard lines going to where the injectors should be appear to disappear into the head...

'87 350 TBI, advice needed for basic operation...

I had a bad coolant temp sensor which made the computer think that the engine was always running "cold" and therefore "richened" the mixture. Lots of sooty exhaust, poor idle etc.

Fair price for 1987 TBI engine?

If you need it out before you sell it, take a video of it running and then a shot of the daily newspaper so the potential buyer knows the date that the vid was taken. I've done that before with outboard motors when I had to pull an engine off a boat for a swap but hadn't sold the engine yet.
