    Spacing???

Heres a stupid question that begs asking: Did you replace all the tranny fluid and also check to see that transfer case was not in neutral?

    Spacing???

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. When you installed the torque converter did you feel or hear 2 "clunks"? That lets you know you have the converter locked on to the pump. If not, you'll have to slowly rotate the converter while pushing in. You'll definetley know when you have it engaged...

    Bouncy speedometer

Thanks for the feedback. 1st, shocks are semi new(2 years old). It's bouncy from the get go. I haven't had it out of town since doing this work so have only seen it up to about 40. It held steady only once. It bounces about 10 mph either direction around my estimated speed. I thought I would get...

    Bouncy speedometer

Good morning GMSB folks. I'm having an issue with my speedometer, 86k10, 700R4-208. I have replaced the speedo, the driven gear in T-case, pulled cable from sheath, lubed up cable and inside sheath and checked to make sure when routing cable there were no hard bends or kinks. Speedo still...

86 Sierra 350 exhaust help, passenger manifold

I had a similar issue with a truck I bought. It had a 350 from the early 90's in it with the center bolt valve covers. The PO just ran it like so I just thought it was a broken bolt. To my amazement when trying to fix an exhaust leak with new gaskets I found there was no bolt in it. The hole...

Just started on the vent window overhaul

I would like to know where you sourced your gaskets. I replaced mine with them being sourced from Precision and they leak air badly. Thanks

Look at the post titled "700r4 vacuum hose" from yesterday. There is a vacuum hose diagram given in the post answer. See if that helps you any.

    Parking brake inspection failure

As near as I can tell, you're missing the 2 springs on your crossover bar just below your wheel cylinder. Nothing to push the brakes back to neutral position.

    Cab replacement

How does one get the previous post into the italicized and quotation marks? I click on the "quote in message" box but nothing happens. Reminds me of the famous 3 Stooges quote- "I'm trying to think but nothing is happening"! Thanks for any explanation.

    Cab replacement

I did this back in 1995, I had an '80 3+3 that I put an '85 front clip on. I believe I had to cut slots in the top of the cowl/firewall so the hinges slid in. I also think there are some pins that hold the metal cowl filler to the cab. I haven't had my new '85 project long enough to confirm if...

    conduit?

Thanks for the input gmachinz and R8rPhan. I had it in my minds eye that it was metal tubing. I'll let you know what I find out.

    conduit?

What is that tube called or described that the wires run through to protect them from exhaust manifolds from junction block to starter ? I've googled it under several different titles and keep coming up with wiring diagrams on how to wire the starter. Mine is missing and recently burned up an...

    Auto to manual hubs

Warn or Milemarkers will drop right in once you pull all of auto locking hub parts out. Stock GM hubs should fit right in. Your existing spindle nuts should work fine, I'd leave them in. Some folks still use the auto hubs, you may find a home for those parts on ebay. pro tip #138 - Bend a small...

Thank you sir for the info. I'll give it a look see. May not be doing it if it looks to be too difficult. May just continue looking for an '81-'87 cab.

    Cab replacement

Tried looking this up in other threads but what all is involved with say using a '77 cab but going to the 81-87 front clip? I know the hood hinges attach differently but not much else. How do you do the modifications? Thanks for any and all input.

How Come You Never See This Anymore?

There is a 70's K20 in my town that is all original with the wood grain down the sides. It'a little faded on the drivers side in spots but the rest of it looks great.
