    Would these shocks be good?

I changed my shocks from Rough Country nitrogen filled to a hydraulic type. They were softer, but didn't make much of a difference. My springs are also wrong for my truck. The springs don't flex at all. So the shocks don't make much difference.

    Engine woes

Every engine is the same it needs fuel , air , and a spark to run. Start with one of these and then break it down into smaller parts.

What have you done to your square lately??

Replaced the collector gaskets on the headers. Chasing an exhaust leak. I think it's a weld on one of the tubes. I have replaced all the gaskets. Check out the price for the new gaskets. Great deal.

What have you done to your square lately??

Installed the carpet door trim that I've had from the original carpet. I like the original color better than the red. I would use the factory one, but I only have the one. The other side got wet and fell apart. The red ones are from LMC and are 8 years old. They are holding up well.

    LED dash light replacements

I made the mistake of going with the blue. It looks nice. The light output is no better than the stock incandescent lamps. If you paint the back of the gauge pod with a silver paint it might help with the led colored lamps. Theres a post on here about doing it.

High oil pressure after replacing pump

My truck runs at those pressures. I see 60 at start up and then it drops to 40-50 when hot. I'm running 10-40 oil. I plugged the bypass on the oil filter housing years ago with aa 1/4 screw in plug.

    1987 Chevy V10 steering wander

How are the tires? Worn tires can also cause some issues and or make them worse. My truck has had all the front-end work done and the steering is a little loose. The 32's don't help they tend to grab the seams in the old jacked up roads. Mine is nowhere dangerous, just not rack and pinion, or...

    77 K10 - what should I be asking for?

How bad are the floors? Flintstone type or just a little crusty? As it sits can it be driven? Heat and AC? Those are the things most important to me and the price I would be willing to pay. You spent good money on the FI and fuel system, but it's on an old engine. I would say 5K if it could...

New Project The Good, Bad and the Ugly

Really this is an old project that was running till it spun a cam bearing. I've owned it about 15 years. Time for another rebuild. This is the good. A cat eyed 2500 HD we call Bertha. The engine was rebuilt at about 160K. It is a forged bottom end 408, with stock 317 big chamber heads, a TBSS...

Vortec Head Timing With Progression Ignition

I know the Vortech's like less timing like the others have stated. I had to swap springs on the dizzy. I 'm using a lite, and a heavy. I was getting some pinging with both lighter springs. I run 87 octane gas. I have to look up my timing specs. It was last year when I dialed the truck in. With...

    Modified engine crewcab gas mileage?

    Modified engine crewcab gas mileage?

If you haven't watched the UNITY Garage series of videos you should. He talks about the timing curves on his big block Ford truck. He discusses that he can run upwards of 50 degrees of timing with lean mixtures at cruise throttle positions. David Vinyard also talks about it. You are on point...

    Modified engine crewcab gas mileage?

I'm not worried about gas milage with the truck. I agree gears would help get it moving from a stop, but they cost you at highway speeds. The engine makes enough torque down low to where it doesn't lug the engine. Plans later on down the road call for 4:10's and a 4L60E, or 80E tranny. I only...

    Modified engine crewcab gas mileage?

My truck gets 9.5 MPG. 350, 350 combo with 3.08's and 32" tires. Thats mainly driving on side streets. I do drive a few miles on the freeway maybe 20 miles a week.

Lost Two Gen 3 LS Engines in my 1986 C10 2WD

Was the 5.3 an AFM, DOD engine? If so, the lifters might be stuck in the collapsed condition.

    Need AC help!

I would suspect the controller. The switch maybe bad. The only other thing I would guess at is there is a short in the wiring harness putting power to the AC compressor connecter. I would unplug the connector and get a voltmeter, or test light and trouble shoot from there. Move the switch to...

1987 Blazer Front Suspension Upgrade, Springs, Bushings, Hangers, Steering Box/Shaft

Thanks for your response. I have thought about welding a washer to the damaged mount. I have replaced all the bushings with the ORD greaseable type and used their shackles. I have been driving the truck for over a year. It just sits uneven in the front. Only the drive side mount had any damage...

Skool me on timing w/o timing tab

You have to be careful where you install the timing tab. I put one on my truck when I rebuilt the top end. I put it on the new timing cover over to the right side. Wrong the original was on top behind the water pump. I'm guessing it was the one with the site tube. I had to replace the cover due...
