    Help

Really dumb point, but it's possible if you were told a new tranny was dropped in: Is the linkage connected to the tranny? I could see a world where the tranny is in neutral and not connected to the linkage, though I think you'd feel that when shifting the column.

No movement at all? Tried every gear setting? Is the torque converter bolted to the flex plate???

    Dana 60 axle play

Thanks for the exchange. Helps me think it through and not just buy stuff. I’m leaning toward just running them. I had already bought new nylon bushings and had planned to swap them. I’ll check the lower bearings. I probably won’t put 2000 miles a year on the truck though I will definitely...

    Dana 60 axle play

Helpful. The grooves are like a record. It’s clear in the pic but it almost looks like I wiped it and left grease trails. They are enough to catch a fingernail. The driver side is basically smooth. I’m aware of the torque value. I have no idea how I would measure that. Biggest torque wrench I...

Any opinion on my upper king pins? I assume swap is the safe thing there?

    Dana 60 axle play

Lower king pins looked clean. I’m at that stage where I’m so far into this thing that I need to know what to just go ahead and do. I had already planned and prepared for: - hub bearings and seals - all steering components (tie rods and ends) Now I have added: - axle u joints - spindle...

    Dana 60 axle play

Alright. This thread is named appropriately because I’m going to be playing with the axle for a while. Got into it this morning. Advice please. Here are the upper kingpins. Despite the driver side having broken nylon bushing, it didn’t look too chewed up. The passenger side is scored pretty...

    Dana 60 axle play

Thanks. So there’s not an intermediate bearing inboard of the knuckle? I have been outside and haven’t looked it up, but that was my fear…that an inboard bearing was toast.

    Dana 60 axle play

I’m progressively getting into this Dana 60 on my k3500 side project and not liking what I’m finding. Here’s the play in driver side ( front) axle at the cv joint after I removed the hub. I have to assume this is not normal. Tell me what I likely need to replace. (Sigh).

    Dually fenders without clearance lights?

That’s my plan. I’m thinking I will install lights. I got the fenders as a throw in with another car purchase and they do fit up nicely. The only ones I have seen for sale recently were nice but at 750 asking too nice for me to bash into trees at the farm.

    Dually fenders without clearance lights?

I will double check but I’m pretty sure they don’t have anything.

    Dually fenders without clearance lights?

Only because I may occasionally move a skid steer or excavator or a few animals a few miles between a couple properties. It’s going to be a farm truck. Nothing over the road. I wanted the towing capacity. I think my use would be dot exempt but I don’t know.

    Dually fenders without clearance lights?

Oooh. yeah, I'm swapping in a c10 bed so will have to figure out the tailgate lights.

    Dually fenders without clearance lights?

I have been trying to figure out where I'm supposed to have 7 running lights on the back. Can you clue me in? I'll be putting a bed from a donor (C10) truck on this truck sometime and will have to wire all this up to properly reflect a K3500.

60 days in on my 90 day rebuild. Goin to try a motor upgrade next. Any advice on going from a 350 to a 454?

Be sure you have 2 fuel tanks. :) If that’s progress in 60 days, I’m looking forward to seeing what you do with the last 30.

K30 DRW Brake Drum Removal HELP!!!

Well, all’s well that ends well. I got the hubs and drums off, swapped out bearings races and seals. Put new drums on. In the meantime I had the tires dismounted and I epoxied the rims. It’s gonna look good. Drained and refilled the axle. Diff looks good. Truck doesn’t run but it will have...

    1980 Starter wires?

I did this trace this evening. It ended up being the fuel tank sender. I hadn’t realized that I was lacking that pigtail as I’m putting things back together. It’s a very dirty and faded pink wire running to number 30 on the bulkhead connector. I’m 95% sure of this and will confirm once I have...

    Dually fenders without clearance lights?

I happen to have a set of fiberglass dually fenders that I'm contemplating for my side quest K3500 since OE fenders seem to be hens teeth around here. Mine don't have provisions for the clearance lights. They are smooth finish without even the indents for the clearance lights. I'm not sure...

    1980 Starter wires?

Good advice. I dont have core support or battery tray so haven’t had the battery attached. I was wiring things up and getting headers in. Ran into the mystery wire!

Tracing it will be my next move. I just couldn’t make sense of the extra wire.

    1980 Starter wires?

I did a search and looked at the wiring diagrams but haven’t figured this one out. 1980 C10, sbc with hei. Pulled the motor a couple years ago and have forgotten this. Four wires running through the metal heat shield to the starter. Colors are faded. 1. 2 fusible links to the main battery...
