    Barn doors and door questions

Tip: You can get the rattle out of the door barn by adjusting the striker with a crowbar. Bending it slightly up makes the door close without any play. Just make sure that your striker is not pre-cracked. One of mine broke and I can see that the crack was half way through before I even started...

Automatic transmission newbie asking basic questions

I'm worried that my TC seems to lock and unlock too much. Sometimes at steady driving it seems to randomly unlock and lock couple of times. At first I thought it was cruise control playing with throttle, but with windows up I can hear revs going up and down a tiny bit. I believe it is triggered...

    Best aftermarket antenna option

My 1990 Burb has two antennas, one on fender and the one built into the windshield. Only the fender antenna is connected and this made me wonder why is it like this? From what I've heard in the US AM radio was (or according to Google still is) quite popular, while in Poland no one is really...

    CUCV vs civilian model differences?

I didn't know that. I was not aware that no A/C meant no dash vents. When I zoomed in I can see that there is a heater contro that I didn't notice, it's just the vent which is missing. I guess my post can be deleted

    CUCV vs civilian model differences?

I want to add a thing to this old thread as I'm looking at a CUCV Blazer and it appears that it has no cabin ventilation. Dashboard has no vents and there appears to be no climate controls. I guess this means no cabin heat, this may be important for someone willing to use one in a winter

    Solving gauge mysteries

Pressing and spinning at same time did work! Thanks. I will look into that speed setting thing. By the way it's interesting how the speedo moves to a different resting spot when lying flat, it goes back to 0 when vertical

    Solving gauge mysteries

I'm in a middle of what I though will be a quick gauge bulb change that ended up being dashboard disassembled, checking gauges, cleaning and troubleshooting. All thanks to those odd (for me) bulbs that look like regular W5W or W3W, but are integrated into plastic sockets that need to be pulled...

    Another oil pressure gauge thread

Okay I figured it out, the pinout on that MS Paint drawing was incorrect! However I traced the wires visible on the actial picture and found that the sender unit is to be connected on the other side I happen to have couple of 47 resistors on hand. My 0-60 gauge shows 0 when "sensor" is...

    Another oil pressure gauge thread

Thank you, I have something that looks like a thick film ceramic resistor screwed to the back of the gauge, so I'll check it. My gauge reads 0 - 30 - 60, however with voltage between two posts it went way past the 60. Based on your diagram I've applied the voltage on just one of the coils which...

    Another oil pressure gauge thread

Bumpong an old thread, but I just now happen to have the gauge cluster to change bulbs and inspect gauges. My oil gauge is showing something, shows pressure with engine off, shows some different pressure with engine on, does not react to throttle. I want to bench test it while I have it out...

    Welcome from Poland!

After reading so much about 305's I passed on couple of cars, including a rusty Blazer for a good price that would be probably even more fun to tinker with (definitely would fit into the garage better! :) ) due to them having 305 and not 350.

    Barn doors and door questions

I took some pictures: that's how the barn door opening looks in my burb, you can see daylight from the inside with the doors fully closed

    Barn doors and door questions

Hi again, My barn doors are rattling, they seem to latch correctly (can be latched either on one "click" or deeper on a 2nd "click"), however after closing they have still some play, can be pushed in compressing the gasket. Those latch ears are adjusted as far in as possible while the latches in...

Automatic transmission newbie asking basic questions

Thanks a lot, however the fact that a computer controlled engine could have no rev limiter is also a new thing to me! I'm considering adding a tachometer and learning what's the no-go zone for a stock truck 350 TBI. I've read a lot about the TV cable and based on the overall feel vs it appears...

Automatic transmission newbie asking basic questions

I'm new to automatic transmission, especially of a mechanically controlled type. I have a 700R4 and I wonder how idiot-proof it is. While I was cruising in OD at I think around 35 mph and passed a tiny hill the trans downshifted to 3rd, then it did what if felt like couple of times shifting...

    power window relay mod

I'm also fighting slow power windows. Greasing the guides helped, however windows are still too slow. Windows go noticeably faster when controlled from the door switch than from the master switches on drivers door, so the issue is related to lenghth of wires and the fact that both ground and...

Adding a headrest to a bench seat

I wonder do you have something like this available in the US? It is a slide-on headrest, an accessory from a 70's Fiat 126p. These slid onto factory low back seat and added some whiplash protection. When matched with the factory upholstery it looked like a seat with integrated headrest.

    Ideas for missing headliner

That's an interesting option, thank you for the idea, I've searched how does it look and it's not bad! Once the fabric is tensioned it is hard to tell that it is not glued to something rigid. And the shipping would be way easier than a giant flat box. that's way over my woodworking skill level...

    Ideas for missing headliner

Not sure what kind of headliner it is... Interesting idea, would probably work like a butyl sound deadening mat. However I can't imagine how to apply ot on a roof w/o removing whole interior to get it do.e

Options for tuning of Gen1 TBI in 2023

For the price of a Haltech one can get a Sniper EFI, so that doesn't seem to be a cost effective. Good thing that GM TBI is not a forgotten tech and there is still some aftermarket supporting it :)

Options for tuning of Gen1 TBI in 2023

Is it like a pre-programmed chip that you cannot reprogram? That also sounds good and I don't mean the name ;) Will google around.
