    defrost not working

Since you were under the hood replacing the blower motor. I would start there. The vacuum supply line goes through a grommet in the firewall

Are all replacement brake hard lines equal?

I bought brake and trans. lines from Inline Tube for the 1987 V3500 I am restoring. They fit ok, not perfect. Had to bend the transmission lines quite a bit at the radiator end. The lines were not even close. They look good now. The brake lines fit pretty good except at the master. They were 90...

    Good manual battery chargers?

Schumacher makes a few "normal" battery chargers. The smart chargers have their place but you need a manual charger sometimes. Associated is another brand that is good and has many types of chargers available.

    Vacuum lines for hvac system

No, the check valve needs to be in the line off the manifold before the Tee

    Vacuum lines for hvac system

The vacuum tank is needed. It is a reservoir so you have vacuum when the engine is not making vacuum. The check valve keeps the vacuum in the system and does not let it bleed off into the manifold. That picture above is what I had found but it is not 100% correct for my 1987 V3500. The fitting...

    Vacuum lines for hvac system

On an 87 the vacuum reservoir is on the left side next to the wiper motor. If you have cruise control there is a vacuum check valve Tee. I imagine without cruise it would just be a check valve one only one nipple on each side. You need the check valve so under acceleration your HVAC does not...

please recommend a transmission dipstick that isn’t junk.

The Pioneer one was such a piece of crap I tossed it. I found a different brand, Dorman maybe, that was a bit better but I had to cut the tab off and make a mounting tab that actually fit.

whats every body using.. looking for a new stereo head unit

I bought a converted OE unit from a guy here. He will convert yours or sell you a complete unit. I don't need touch screens or anything beyond the ability to get music on my phone to play in my truck. This solves the issue for me. If you need his name just PM me. BTW I have seen AC/DC at least...

Driver side door is torn at hinge

If you don't weld then replace the door. How rusted is the door otherwise? If not rusted why not remove the door and take to a body shop and let them weld it up for you?

    12 Bolt Pinion Bearing Pre-Load

The way we used to do them in the shop is to count the threads showing and mark the nut. Install it with the same threads showing and mark in the right place. I have seen guys just remove the nut with an impact and put it back on with a quick shot on the impact. Not the right way of course but...

    Temp Gauge Is Not Working

Easy to rule out. Connect a jumper wire from the metal hex part to ground. Then check operation.

Why do you need the first relay? The Dk Grn wire is what energizes the coil normally.

    Temp Gauge Is Not Working

Remove the connector and measure the resistance of the sender to ground. Then connect the sender and check the resistance at the gauge. They should read the same. Have you verified you have a sender and not a switch? They look the same but the sender varies resistance with temp and the switch...

Need Ford 302 Efi expertise -update

I worked on those when they were new. In those days drivability was a huge issue. Clean and set the throttle plate, Air temp sensor and coolant temp sensor failed regularly. MAP sensors rarely failed but the vacuum line to them would get dunked up with this jelly like substance. TPS would go bad...

    Wiring A/C help

The clamping diode is used to stop voltage spikes when the clutch is disengaged. That spike can take out electronics. It would induce a high voltage when the coil field collapses, like an ignition coil works the diode stops that from happening.

    R134a conversion

Some systems came from GM with the high pressure switch and some came without. My 1987 V3500 did not have one from the factory. Since you replaced everything make sure you have the correct amount of PAG oil and charge it to 80-85% of the R12 specified charge. Don't overthink it.

Best "Sweet Spot" on a radiator?

With a shroud you pull air through the entire radiator. If against the fins you are only pulling air through the section covered by the fan.

Best "Sweet Spot" on a radiator?

I would make a shroud out of aluminum the covers the radiator, then I would mount my fan(s) in that. This way the fans actually pull air through the radiator and it mounts without shoving those cheesy plastic things through the fins. You can run one big fan or two small ones. You can buy fan...

    Headlights flickering...

If the lights work for a short time then off and back on the most likely is the headlamp switch. Instead of wasting time and effort to install relays why not just switch to LED headlamps? You will get more light output and they draw less current. LEDs do not dim with a change in voltage. As...
