    Play in Steering Wheel

There is a retainer and a spring that puts pressure on that upper bearing. There is also a lower bearing since it is a tilt column. That bearing is junk. You need to replace it. When you say play in the steering wheel there are different types of play. Make a video and upload it to YouTube or...

    Wheel well fender mouldings

I received my set today from AMD. I have not even opened the box. Plan to take them to the body shop Friday and compare to the originals.

    Which mirrors are these? Factory?

Those look like the aftermarket replacement heads. My 1987 V3500 came with them from GM. I have owned the truck since 1988. The original GM heads have the arm going inside the backing. I am currently restoring my truck and removed the original mirrors and am installing the "below eyeline"...

    Switching to dumbo mirrors

You can also use Well Nuts. They are used to hold roof racks on and will be fine for mirrors.

Radiator for my 83 GMC 305 with a/c recommendations

You are not wrong but brass/copper radiators cool much more effectively and will last a lifetime if taken care of. I had a radiator shop near me that is excellent. He does stuff for people all over the country. Not many pros doing repairs left. I brought my radiator to him a few months ago. I...

Are all replacement brake hard lines equal?

I replaced my brake lines on my V3500 with Inline stainless. You are supposed to tighten and loosen the fittings 3 times. Each time you will notice the nut tightens more each time. I tried doing more than 3 and noticed after 4 or 5 times the nut was at the same spot. I am sure annealing makes...

    Truck shakes highway speed

Did the shop measure tire runout(Road Force)? Just because they are balanced does not mean your tires won't cause a vibration. I see this a ton in my day job.

Horn blares when my ac high low fan switch comes on

Start with the basics....Grounds. Don't look for the complicated or what if type issue. Then grab the wiring diagrams and start diagnosing. I would start with the horn and work from there. See what is triggering the relay.

    Best radiator fan kit -Alloyworks?

Looking at some of the fan setups in this thread makes me shake my head. Half the radiator is covered by the so-called shroud. A fan shroud should facilitate air flowing across the entire radiator. As was stated, it works like a funnel. On these electric fan setups the shroud serves no positive...

Radiator for my 83 GMC 305 with a/c recommendations

Why not just fix the radiator you have now or have a shop make that radiator better?

    Alloy works radiators

I would not toss my copper/brass radiator for an aluminum one let alone a plastic and aluminum one. Have your original radiator repaired/recored. Worth the money. I can recommend a top notch radiator shop I have used for 40 years. Just had my 1987 radiator cleaned and checked and my buddy had...

Wiring gremlin - Nothing works unless trans is in reverse

You have bad grounds. Clean and replace your ground cables/straps. You could also do some voltage drop testing and know exactly what is wrong. Or you could just drive around in reverse. :p

1991 GMC suburban braided fuel return line at back of engine 5.7

My 1987 with TBI needed a couple of fuel lines. One the metal was corroded and leaking fuel on a pressure line and the other was a feed line too and the braiding was all frayed. I am restoring the truck and wanted to replace the fuel lines. I could only find a couple of NOS ones but not enough...

How do I bypass the factory radio completely so I can just listen through Bluetooth?

I have an original Delco radio that a member here added Bluetooth to. If you are interested, shoot me a PM and I can share his info.

    Wiring issues

The reason you measure 12 volts when the circuit is not trying to operate is you are measuring potential across an open circuit. When you measure 6 volts when the circuit is energized means you have a 6 volt drop someplace. Something else is "stealing" your 6 volts. An added resistance. A few...

Cannot find a replacement tie rod boot....

Why not just buy a ball joint, use the boot and toss the rest. Rock Auto has economy brand ball joints for $10 and under. A bit of Googling and I find plenty that are under $20. I just guessed and picked 1985 K10

Need engine help!! At my wits end

Have you done a leak down test? I would be concerned with why you lost a camshaft on a "new" motor. What happened?

    Found a tilt steering column

Exactly my point. My steering column is apart on my bench. Body shop painted the housings and I am replacing bearings and switches. Trying to hunt down the column shifter. Mine is rusty. 1987 V3500 auto. If anyone has one hit me up.

    Dana 60 axle play

I know the feeling. My restoration started out as "I want to fix the old truck up so I can use it around the new house. Dump runs, Home Cheapo runs, etc." Well it turned into a full blown restoration costing more than a new truck. Now I need to find a beater. My wife is going to kill me.

    Dana 60 axle play

Smart move. I am not sure you can do the spring eye bushing in place without a ton of difficulty. So removing the springs only to replace them later seems like a huge waste of effort. Sometimes you just have to do things right.

    Dana 60 axle play

If your springs are old, I would replace them. They are not very expensive. Just make sure you get the right shackles for the rear of them. I replaced the springs on my 1987 V3500 and had trouble getting the correct shackles. Many places listed ones that are too small. The spring shop where I...

    Dana 60 axle play

That bushing is toast. You won't get a good alignment until you get a good bushing in there. My 1987 steering wondered when driving. The right upper shackle bushing were it goes through the frame was all but gone. I can't wait to drive it now.

    1985 C10 Radio Wiring harness

I am installing a factory Delco in my 1987. Bought one that someone here modded to have Bluetooth. I have owned this truck since 1988 and when Installed a nice Kenwood cassette radio. Well that unit is dead and who has cassettes any more? Now I have to reconnect factory connectors.

    Found a tilt steering column

The curved switch at the base of the column is the neutral safety switch. The switch mounted on the tube lengthwise is the ignition switch. The long thin black connector is the turn signal switch. The black box is the wiper delay module for trucks with intermittent wipers. Without the key...
